Victory Cigar Game 5 Snatch that...

Post#1 » by sully00 » Wed May 13, 2009 2:48 am

Well my owe my that was something else. Nothing easy but a win is a win and one more and we get LeBron and Co. But damn SVG is shaky on the bench what was going on in the last 4 mins?

Baby was great again but isn't that just who he is now I got to think about this.

I gotta take Steph i think... he played horribly early, but then the game was slipping away in the fourth and he hit 4 straight buckets, and ended up with what 12 points in 5-6 minutes of the 4th quarter, he kept us alive when nothing else was happening

I really want to go with Marbury. But Davis was hitting shots too during that comeback. He had a better overall game, I will go with Glen Davis.

As for SVG, I don't know why you would have howard out there. Sure he hit his first free throw and missed the second one on purpose, but that had potential to be an awfully criticized move.

Has to be Pierce IMO.

19/9/8 with 0 TO's. Doesn't get much better than that.

Love what Davis provided to the team and the lift Marbury gave was great...but this goes to the Captain.

The captain. He kept them in it until late in the fourth. If not for Pierce, Marbury and Davis's contributions would have been all for naught.

There might have been players with better games, but Stephon just sealed it for me with his scoring in the fourth. He really jump started the offense which was nonexistent all game. I was a big doubter of him up until this game, so I gotta show him so love and give him some kudos etc

When the team was lacking energy and all looked lost.. Steph came in and gave them a huge lift. 12 points in 5-6 mins.. 3 mid range shots, a straight on three, an And1 layup I think he deserves it... Still dont know why Doc took him out, but its ok as long as we got the victory.

Perks was amazing tonight on defense, Marbury gave us energy but the difference went only from -14 to -10...than again Big Baby hit some important shots.

I dont know

22points/8-16/6-6/7 reb/o turnovers
+also played good defense on Lewis in 4th quarter

My cigar goes to Baby

But finally Marbury wake up!!!

Bench points 26...huge!!!

You have to be frigging kidding me. There is one winner - the guy who carried this team on his back for the second straight game with 19-9-8 and no TOs - when the rest of the team was playing like total ****. Commendations to boost by Marbs and BBD, but voting for anyone else but the Truth makes this award a farce.

REGARDLESS, GREAT COMEBACK FROM 14 DOWN WITH 7 MINUTES TO PLAY. NEVER DOUBT THE HEART OF A CHAMPION. And, to be brutally honest, in spite of Paul's brilliance tonight, I doubted us. I now formally admonish myself and slap myself upside the head.

Hands down, my dude, Stephon Marbury. Without him, we'd HELLA be losing. Guaranteed he's going to have some confidence come Thursday night. Hope Doc gives him a grip of PT.

Marbury. Give it to the guy who hasn't had a chance to win one before!

Besides, Pierce is credited with a full playoff cigar on a poll he actually split with Perk. ;)

I think Marbs is very much in the spirit of the award. Pierce kept us from getting blown out, but the game looked over before Marb's run.

When it happened, somebody said that the Marbury signing would be worth one win in the playoffs.

IMO, this was that game.

Calm down. There's no hard-and-fast rule that says the award has to go to the team's most accomplished player for the game (who obviously was Pierce, BBD's +/- notwithstanding).

To copy my post from the other thread,

I was about ready to give my vote to BBD tonight anyway...he contributed throughout and was clutch when we needed him.

Anyways, by the box score, in the 42 minutes he played, we were +16. In the six minutes he was on the bench, we were -12. That seals the deal.

---
Marbury a few big plays offensively in the fourth, but he almost sucked outside of that stretch of a few minutes, and even during that stretch we couldn't get a single stop defensively. Doc took him out to everyone's chagrin, and we suddenly made our move at that point. BBD posted more points per shot attempt than Marbs tonight (actually about the same if you factor fouls, but still).

I love Pierce, but Marbury hasn't performed all playoffs (nearly) and provided the boost we needed. Pierce will get his in time, Marbury just happened to have the ball at a bigger moment tonight.

I remember someone saying the same thing...

Pierce had the best overall game but Steph stirred the comeback, gotta give it to him.

I love Paul as much as anyone and he is allowing his teammates to get it done and not going hero which is amazing but it isn't like the dude is under appreciated. He is worthy in all but if it was anyone else it would be a nice stat line he had 2 points in the 4th and was a +1 for the game.

I really like what Marbury did wouldn't take a thing from him.

To me it came down to 10 points in the 4 quarter, 2 big throws, a couple of big boards, and just carrying the water.
