A trade that went down 2 games into the season.

billups is a freaking stud. the guy is a winner. period.
and for all those people using billups as an example of what felton can become... let me just sayg.... billups can shoot. he could always shoot. felton cant shoot. he never could shoot.

I'm beginning to think that shooting ability is the same as vertical leap in that we shouldn't expect it to improve too much over time. I can't think of anyone in the NBA who came in and couldn't hit the ocean from the beach and then later shot 42% or 43% from beyond the arc. Guys have gone from bad to serviceable, or serviceable to good. but never a very dramatic improvement. (I expect someone to chime in with a counter-example in about 10 seconds, perhaps I should say it's uncommon)
This is what worries me about Tyreke Evans for example. Life is hard for a guard in the NBA that can't shoot. You have to be really really special in other ways to make up for it. Guys like Wade or Igoudala are good at essentially EVERY other facet of the game, and they aren't completely hopeless 3-pt shooter either. Evans would have to improve a great deal to even get to the level of Wade or Igoudala.

Wasn't Redd a pretty crappy shooter at OSU?
(sorry, I went out for lunch so I missed the 10 min mark)

Where is that in depth Draft Express article calling Felton the next best thing since sliced bread if he gets the right coach? Didn't it mention his FG%...and especially his 3 pt FG % his last year in college?
Just being the "frick" to your "frack" Fats!
Seriously, I agree in regards to the shooting...Billups was a heckuva scorer long before he became such a great PG and Felton doesn't have those bonafides. What we all should hope to happen however is the light coming on like it did with Billups in regards to being a great PG in his decisions.
That ESPN article:
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/eticket/ ... 11/billups
and in particular this section:
Poplar Street, 1997, to out on the street, 2000
is what I'm sure we all hope happens to him. If he can get that down then I can live with his shooting (well...I can live with just a little more improvement).
Without doing research I kind of agree with E4's opinion in that having the shot first gives you a leg up; wasn't Nash the same? Still, very few can make that jump like Billups did.
BTW, that was one very good article.

Re: All Nba teams announced
i'm just amazed at the difference he has made to the nuggets. just makes you say, man, he wasnt getting enough credit with the pistons, even though everyone knew he was great.
regarding shooting, felton seems to be going back to some of his bad habits regarding his form. thats what scares me. he showed a lot of improvement in his shooting at unc, enough to make you think he might be able to keep improving. but since coming into the league, he hasnt improved his long range shooting at all.

Re: All Nba teams announced
which is easier? teaching a shoot first pg how to lead and be unselfish or teaching a bad shooter how to shoot?

Re: All Nba teams announced
Gary Payton was a horrible shooter when he first joined the league. Like about 10% 3 point shooting in his first 2 years but managed to improve it a reasonably 38% in his prime.
So it is possible.
So it is possible.

I don't think it's that easy. Too much depends on the player; work ethic, ego, motivation, who he's surrounded by both on and off the court, love of the game, etc. Chauncey really wanted to get better as a team mate and leader and he's probably more the exception than the norm.

Y'know...Crash was the LEADING SF rebounder for the league and he had the 2nd highest win score for SFs, over everyone but LeBron.
Why isn't he on that list?
