the curse of eliminating the rockets -historical fact

Post#1 » by rocketman101 » Wed May 13, 2009 10:26 pm

No Eastern Conference team or Western Conference team that has eliminated the Rockets in rounds prior to the NBA Finals has ever gone on to win the championship.

The Lakers will be cursed if they go on and eliminate the Rockets, losing in either the West Finals or the NBA Finals.

1969 --- Atlanta, eliminated by LA
1975 --- Boston, eliminated by the Bullets
1977 --- Philadelphia, eliminated by Portland
1979 --- Atlanta, eliminated by the Bullets
1980 --- Boston, eliminated by Philadelphia
1982 --- Seattle, eliminated by San Antonio
1985 --- Utah, eliminated by Denver
1987 --- Seattle, eliminated by LA
1988 --- Dallas, eliminated by LA
1989 --- Seattle, eliminated by LA
1990 --- LA, eliminated by Phoenix
1991 --- LA, eliminated by Chicago
1993 --- Seattle, eliminated by Phoenix
1996 --- Seattle, eliminated by Chicago
1997 --- Utah, eliminated by Chicago
1998 --- Utah, eliminated by Chicago
1999 --- LA, eliminated by San Antonio
2004 --- LA, eliminated by Detroit
2005 --- Dallas, eliminated by Phoenix
2007 --- Utah, eliminated by San Antonio
2008 --- Utah, eliminated by LA

2009 --- Lakers,eliminated by Cleveland ?

Boo Hoo.............nobody cares about your voodoo or black magic or countryfied hexes. It's always a time to change things........and the time is now. This is some punk soft excuse, so what the Lakers aren't suppose to win the series now that this is out ?

And since you wanna go all voodoo and all, did you know that teams that lose to the Lakers in the rounds prior to the WCF or Finals struggle immensely the next season ? Yeah it is a fact buddy book it.

So with that said it don't look to good for your Rockets huh ?

well its actually not that bad.

Of all the teams to beat the rockets, only one has ever been defeated by Dallas, Denver, Boston, Cleveland or Orlando.

Odds are with us

EDIT; And that side that did lose was not the #1 seed

this kinda just tells me that the rockets have had a lot run of the mill playoff teams that lose to other run of the mill playoff teams. credit to them for not actually sucking enough to be matched up with the elite teams.

lucky for them got out of the 1st rnd and are now facing a number one seed.

How about another statistics...

Teams that are close in physical procimity to the lakers do worse than teams that are further aways.. e.g Clippers forever a lottery team.. Celtics, bulls have done well..

The Rockets only hope to get anywhere in the playoffs is to physically relocate to Greenland.

Don't take this mumbo jumbo stat crap seriously. It's not worth the time to look into it. Let's just look forward to the series vs. Denver..
