i am really advocating a big trade that would bring a Bosh or Amare to Atlanta, but if that doesn't happen, here is a trade that i have been thinking about, a smaller trade that might work in getting past Lebron
Speedy for Tyson Chandler
resign Bibby for 5M, and Flip for 3M
let Zaza go.
Horford/Morris
Smith/Chandler
Marvin/Evans
Joe/Flip
Bibby/19th pick/Acie
it keeps the team in tack, and Chandler might be the big you need to go far in the playoffs, against Dwight and Lebron.

Re: Smaller Trade that might work
You know what? This is not perfect, but it makes me wonder. Unlike most of the bogus proposals that are shot on this board, I can picture NO pulling that one.
So, in a situation where we'd have Chandler, we would either:
A) Play Horford at the 4 and Smith at the 3, and S&T Marv for some bench deph and/or a higher draft pick. Now I know that Smith is not a 3, but I still don't feel like he's a good 4. My solution is to get a real coach who would be able to play him at the 3. And I would be very comfortable running Horford at the 4. He would make a solid front court with Chandler. However, Chandler's big contract means that we either won't have much $$$ to offer to Bibby AND Marvin, so I guess we would let Marvin walk and resign Bibby or another FA pg.
OR
B) Play Chandler at the 5, and play either Horford or Smith at the 4 and trade the second one, assuming we would absolutely prefer playing Marvin over Smith at the 3.
Nothing is perfect, and I still don't know what to think, but for some reason I think a Claxton-Chandler deal is plausible. In the end, the only that Im sure of is that we need a real coach.

I like the idea of Chandler here. He gives us a nice C and a much better 3 man rotation with our bigs than with Zaza.

I still think we should have try to get Brad Miller in February for Zaza+Speedy and a future pick, or something like that. We would not enter the summer without knowing if our backup C will still be here.
And Miller would have been easy to keep for less than what he's making this next season (and less than Chandler).

chandler and horford would be the worst offensive front court of all time.
atleast with smith at the 4, he can score off something other than putbacks or open dunks occasionally.

Re: Smaller Trade that might work
I like that trade a lot, if it can work with the cap. Should we be able to get him, I'd like to see Smoove come off the bench. Think about it. He's a tweener for sure, so we could go with a defense-focused frontcourt and bring Smoove in for added energy and scoring. Marvin is a more natural 3, as Horford a 4 and Tyson a 5, so Josh comes in for any of those guys and our lineup stays stout. If we can hang onto Bibby and Flip too, we end up with an extremely deep lineup that is much better defensively and still has the ability to score a ton. The only thing that isn't really solved by this deal is taking some of the focus off JJ by having another scorer, but I don't see why Marvin and Horford can't grow and become bigger contributors. I honestly am not sure about going after a Bosh or Amare just because of the cost involved when we could give the guys we have a chance. Chandler is a major support piece that would push our defense to one of the best in the league, and he's great running the floor too.
