Ray has played bad, but lets not get carried away...
are u crazy?
yeah Ray Allen is not playing good in this series.
But isn't he the same guy, that played great when it mattered last year? And there was key shot against Detroit that saved us. Didn't he play great in LA and help us win a title?
isn't he the guy that everybody lovvvvvved when he scored 51 points a couple of weeks ago? now hes a scrub. you guys are the biggest flip floppin bandwagon people i've ever seen.
Fact is, we get eliminated in the first round if it wasn't for how Ray played in games 2-7 of the Chicago series.
Isn't he the same guy that was consistent all year long for the most part. More consistent than Paul Pierce offensively.
how many big shots has ray made for this team, in the playoffs and the regular season? hes played hero more times in the last two years than Clark Kent played Superman.
The bottomline is, the team lost tonight. If other guys would have done better, it wouldn't have matter that Ray sucked. You win as a team, you lose a team.
The Celtics will win this series. I have no questions about that...

Do you really want to promote Ray's play in the playoffs last year? His poor play nearly got a 65 win team with home court advantage knocked out in the 1st and 2nd rounds.
And this year's playoffs, well, he's like watching one of those guys in the old timer games they used to have on all-star weekend.
And he's stinking up the joint while collecting a very big paycheck.

Not really. He had a couple good halfs in the Bulls series but was trash outside of those.

Ray has been great all season but that doesn`t matter anymore! We need him now! But I believe in him! I expect him to step up in game 7!

Re: Ray has played bad, but lets not get carried away...
I agree. Ray was super against Chicago. He was amazing during the regular season. But he is off this series. Shots aren't falling. If he is Scalabrine than nobody would be here complaining. But we know how amazing he is, and we NEED HIM BADLY now. Since he isn't responding people just throw out everything he did for us in the whole season...too bad.

he's just playing too many minutes and too many games- he is a runner all over the court and at his age and this pace he can't keep up- Imagine if we had a young stud like him to play 1/4 of his minutes- he'd be fine- but .....
Go Celts!

do you really want to talk about ray last year, and say he played great when it most counted, Ray Allen possibly had the worst series ever for a player against cleveland, he was so bad you cant describe it. and he played good the lakers series but everyone did, because the lakers play soft and are not a good defensive team. i remember ray allen scored like 6 threes in the clinhing game 6 when the celtics were already up 30-35 in the 4th, he added like 4-5 threes in the span that was essentially stat padding.
forget it though i hope he gets going in game 7 because this is disgusting, Its almost crazy but if tony allen had played in ray spot the last couple games he would have done better

Re: Ray has played bad, but lets not get carried away...
Here's the fundamental problem: He's being guarded very VERY tightly.
Now he still gets lanes into the paint, but he sees dwight howard when he gets in the paint.
In essense, the fact that Perkins isn't great at making the baseline jumper hurts ray's impact in the series
what's worse, Rondo is suffering from the same thing. because of that, no one needds to help off pierce, house, scalabrine and allen for open 3s because Rondo is just going to get in the paint and hoist up a tough shot over a shotblocker (howard). Rafer alston's doing a 100x better job than Rose was in keeping in front of Rondo, and that means rondo not only has to score over howard, but ends up often pulling up and hoisting up a jumper which is the LAST shot you want from Rondo.
What makes the above even worse is that sometimes the lane to the basket mentioned above for rondo is often what should be a WIDE open jump shot. Rondo's and Perkins are really hurting the team offensly.
A lineup of
Garnett
Posey
Pierce
Ray
House
was the best IMO for generating offense last year, especially if you dumped the ball inside to KG. The thing that made that lineup especially great was thier ability to still defend sufficiently (though not as ridiculously well as the starter lineup). The problem during the cleveland series was offense, but you NEEDED perkins because lebron is that offensively good. Rondo was hurting them the whole series though.
With KG out & Posey gone the closest you could probably get to tat lineup is probably
Big Baby
Scalabrine
Pierce
Ray
House
Scalabrine is no Posey
While BBD has been admirable, the big issue IMO is that they lack someone to generatee offense without turning the ball over (that's KG's role, he was so great at not turning it over when he posted up) so you have to run it through Pierce who's more turnover prone. Since that doesn't work uber efficiently, it just seems better to win through defense, with Perkins, rather than offense.
Perkins
Scalabrine/BBD
Pierce
Ray
House
With Perkins in the game you have even more likelyhood of turnovers which forces you to put the ball in the hands of your PG, which is Rondo, so you have to sacrifice house's shooting.
Perkins
PF
Pierce
Ray
Rondo
And you're left trying to win with your defense, because that lineup against great defensive teams can't seem to generate truly quality shots for ANYONE imo. Perkins could post on chicago's bigs, not the DPOY. Ray is struggling cuz rondo is struggling, rondo is struggling cuz perkins is limited. Pierce himself is having a tougher time and BBD is having the best sseries of his life.
Today they nearly won through defense. Having KG would have helped. But Perkins being able to stick an open jumper and spot up consistently a la Big Z? Series would be over.

wow, your just crazy, did i say ray allen has been bad for this team? no
i said he sucks this series, and bad, VERY VERY BAD. and He did last season vs Cleveland even worse then hes doing now, and was bad vs ATL too.
i said this would happen too, but that is beyond the point
how is ray allen shooting 4-42 3's, wtf, JJ redick is your mathcup, wakeup. hes possibly the worst defender in the league, Last year Szcerbiak D'd ray allen.

He is being covered LIKE a BLANKET-----When this happens---Doc needs to go away from this "Get everyone involved offense"...and go back to- get the ball to Pierce....when they decide to double-team Paul...Ray might actually get some open looks----but we are playing right into Orlando's hands with this pathetic offense.............Remember Game 7 last year vs. Cleveland----RUN the entire Offense through PIERCE!!----Cr@p, Pierce only took 14 shots tonight, and 11 the last game.

If we end up losing this series, the majority of the blame rests on Allen's shoulders.
