I'm not sure if Thorpe is working with Calathes, but I have a hunch that he tends to overrate players he works with--- this year, I believe, Blair, Clark, and Holiday. He said he thinks Holiday might be a top 5 talent, which would be something. Nonetheless, I really like Calathes, and quite honestly, assuming Holiday, Curry, and Lawson were off the board, I wouldn't be all that upset if we grabbed him at 18. If McHale were drafting, I would think that would be a given.

18 sure seems high for Calathes but I do like him at 28.

Do you guys think Curry is actually going to last until the Miami pick? I have been assuming we would have to trade up if we wanted him.

He said on the Dan Patrick show that GM's told him anywhere from 6 - 20, but he also said 6 was New York, so maybe he meant 8 -20, but either way I was assuming you weren't going to shoot ice crystals at me

.net proves yet again that the only useful information on their website is the draft countdown (43 days)...

there latest mock is laughable for the wolves:

5. James Harden - fine

18. Derrick Brown
-Over Jeff Teague, BJ Mullens, Terrence Williams, and DeJuan Blair (not that we want him, but he should still go before Brown)

28. Taj Gibson
-Over Jrue Holiday, Darren Collison, Marcus Thornton, Jermaine Taylor and DaJuan Summers
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.

Taj Gibson's at best an early 2nd round pick. Jrue Holiday would be a wet dream at #28.

And honestly, who the hell is Derrick Brown?

Anybody read DX's latest blog post on Jennings? There's a 15 minute interview too. Givony is selling me on this kid hard. He might be my fourth favorite prospect in the draft for me right now, after Derozan.

I spoke about it a little bit on the fave 5 thread. His maturity seems dramatic. Considering his experience in europe and his age I think it is real. If he has started focusing on defense and learning eff then he might step on our draft-board. On the fave-5 I had him ahead of Evans and DeRozan as the 5th prospect.

I don't think it's stupid, he's in the conversation, but he didn't have a very impressive season overseas and those situational stats courtesy of DX didn't help his cause either.

I think you can go for guys with potential and still make a safer pick in choosing from guys with better production.

I don't think Jennings will be bad, I just think he wouldn't fit with the Wolves. Here's my list...

1. Griffin
2. Rubio

3. Evans
4. DeRozan
5. Thabeet

6. Harden

7. Jennings
8. Clark

I hope Hill goes before us opening up at least one more option.

The more I read about Tyreke Evans, the more I fall in love with him. The next Dwayne Wade, but a little bigger. Plus he has the hardworker bloodline.

A potential stud pg does not fit on this team? We are talking about the wolves, right? The biggest argument against it would be his age that he would not be ready to help Al for a year or 2. But it could be a parker/duncan situation.

at worse, if Jennings could step in and back-up Bassy for a year while he learns then we have replaced a cancer last year which was the pg position anytime bassy was not playing. Then Jennings can learn and get the job over Bassy.

bingo

Jennings is EASILY the best point guard prospect in this draft class after Rubio.

Yeah Jennings is the best pg prospect after Rubio...I still don't like him. The few games I have seen him in Italy he did not impress me...he looked sometimes lost on the court, making stupid plays often, although having the tools to be a great player and I HATE that he fades away after every single shot ^^
I don't see a leader in Jennings who could push our team over the top in the future...

Jennings would fit in perfect with the Wolves because his weaknesses are the same ones we already have.

Sign me up for more crappy perimeter defense, piss-poor outside shooting, midget backcourts, and let's throw more interest for SportsCenter than substance while we're at it.

Although myabe he would actually get us on SportsCenter in our own highlights when we actually do win. That could be a plus.

Ok, really?

We spend our lottery pick on a back-up for Telfair? If that's the case, I quit. What in the world would he learn from Bassy? I'd hope anything he could learn from Bassy he'd already know. If not he doesn't deserve to be our pick.

I'm beginning to wonder if Jennings is even that much worse than Rubio --

Apart from looking at there numbers, things to consider --

Rubio gets to play full time minutes, which allows him to get into a rhythym

Rubio gets to play full time point guard, while Jennings is asked to play off the ball a lot.

Jennings has improved his defense greatly.

Jennings has improved his shot greatly, even changing his form

Jennings is more athletic, and obviously quicker, and Aaron Brooks in the playoffs has shown just how valuable that can be

Aaron Brooks is also playing on the perimeter with two bulls in Battier and Artest. We have Foye who's just this side of the height requirement for a handicap sticker, Mike Miller who spends more time at the hair salon than in the weight room, and Corey Brewer's telethon to beat anorexia airs next month.
