How can the Laker's supporting cast waste a great Kobe 11-27 performance away?

Easy when the other Laker starters go 10-26 FG's, 1-10 3pt shooting, and 4 FT's. Kobe is going against Battier/Artest. Pau/Bynum are going against Hayes/Scola....

Scola punks Gasol for 24

Brooks lights up Fisher yet again for 26

Fisher/Odom/Bynum/Walton/Sasha combined for 12pts last night. Are you kidding me? In a close-out game in Houston, the Lakers top players outside of Kobe/Gasol ALL COMBINED for 12pts. That is absolutely unacceptable.

Im not trying to take blame off of Kobe, cause he didnt have the greatest game either, but at least he f***ing tried. The rest of the team just folded, like they have several other times this season, and just like the did in the Finals last year. This is one of the most mentally weak teams Ive ever seen. They completely collapse under pressure. Its embarrassing.

I said it earlier in the playoffs and I think I maybe have been right. The Lakers were a better team last year. Kobe, Fisher, Sasha were much better players last year. Turiaf had a bigger impact than Bynum. LA's bench was more effective and they actually had some deadly shooters.

And even then they had a pretty easy path to the finals.

If the Lakers lose on Sunday then I don't know what to say. But I will certainly back up Kobe and the Lakers even if they lose.

Are you the same people who ragged on the Celtics last year for game 7'ing the hawks and cavs? Gee golly, don't panic like a girl. Lakers in 5 against Orlando for sure.

Sasha was definitely a better player last year, so was Fisher.

Ariza is better this year. Bynum is providing about the same impact as not playing.

Phil Jackson is a worse coach. Pau is about the same last year, Odom about the same.

Kobe has probably slipped ever so slightly from last year.

I want to think the Lakers are better but they might just be the same team as last year overall....

No Odom played awesome last season.

Bynum has negative contribution right now, giving up points on defense and only fouling which is detrimental tot eh team.

Ariza is good but I would take Radman, better Sasha, and better Fisher over just one Ariza.

Brown is a nice player but doesn't get any PT really so you can't measure his impact based on what 10 mins a game.

Lakers last year > Lakers this year

They are overrated in the expectations that have been put on them. They had a good year last year but most of these guys were scrubs before that. Ariza coming in was a nice add but before this year he had only proven that he was a nice athlete/slasher but not that great of a player. Bynum had only ever proved he could be good for 20 games or so.

That said LA is still the best team in the League 1-12. I don't really doubt that. But as far as the supporting cast it really depends on how you look at it. Like I said earlier

1-6 probably the best
1-12 probably the best

1-5 2nd or 3rd best
1-8 (playoff rotation) 3rd maybe even 4th best.

If you are only looking 8 players deep there are 3 maybe even 4 teams that are as good if not better. Boston falls just out of that with KG, but ouside their big 3, their next 3-4 guys are better

Rhondo, Perk, Baby, House >> Fish, Ariza, Bynum, Vujacek

Alton, Pietrus, Gortat, Lee, Reddick >= Fish, Ariza, Bynum, Vujacek, Walton

West, Smith, Wallace, Boobie, Scerbiak >= Fish, Ariza, Bynum, Vujacek, Walton

KMart, Smith, Jones, Kleiza >= Fish, Ariza, Bynum, Vujacek

We have the luxury of that added depth that helps at times, but in the post season its not always as helpful as you'd think. LA is much closer to the pack when playoff rotations are in effect. They should still win though, no excuse not too. Unles Vujacek counts as an excuse?

A big part of this has to be the absence of Tex Winters.

I get the feeling Kobe doesn't really like having a really good supporting cast. I'm watching the game, and the difference between Lebron and Kobe, in regards to how the like their supporting cast, is after Pau jus went on total domination in that last run, Kobe barely congratulates him, and Lebron would have been the first guy off the bench jumping around and hugging Mo, Z, or anyone else who did that for the Cavs.
