OT: Poor Miles

Post#1 » by Cyclical » Fri May 15, 2009 5:43 pm

Man, I like weed as much as the next guy but when you want to make your way back to the NBA you better be more disciplined. Seemed like a real nice kid when he was here.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4167156
The 27-year-old Miles was alone in his car Wednesday night in suburban Fairview Heights, Ill., when an officer pulled him over for allegedly failing to use a turn signal, police Sgt. Steve Evans said. During a search of the car, Evans said police found a small amount of marijuana in a plastic bag in the passenger compartment.

Miles was ticketed for driving with a suspended license and charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession because the amount of the drug was less than 2.5 grams, which would have been a felony. He was later freed on $100 bond.

It's articles like this that make me happy I live in Massachusetts. The decriminalization of marijuana under an ounce was a huge step for this state. I mean really??? Possession of more than 2.5 grams in Ill. is a felony? Jailing someone over a small amount of weed is just an incredibly bad waste of tax payer money.

I don't have a problem with the week, the main thing started with a suspended license.

Why why why are you driving with a suspended license. I am sure he could find a lot of people to drive him around for 30K a year.
NFL fans are now feeling what NBA fans been living for a while...

And if you are, for some (Please Use More Appropriate Word) reason, driving with a suspended license, why the hell would you do something dumb like turn without signaling...especially if you have weed in the car..

It's sad, I always thought Miles had the innate ability to avoid driving without a license, signal when turning, and keep weed out of his glove compartment, he just didn't have the basketball IQ.

True. I agree with all of that and that's why I don't go to any **** middle America. With that said, if you're smoking weed in the car, you probably should be a little more careful.

"Poor Darius" and "It's self-inflicted" don't contradict each other.

My opinion includes both of those sentiments.
Banned temporarily for, among other sins, being "Extremely Deviant".

100% signed, stamped, and agreed to. I'm hoping that Vermont follows suit though VT's laws on possesion aren't particularly harsh compared to many states anyways.

This. I feel slightly bad for him getting pulled over for something as small as a turning signal, but not driving with a suspended license is just common sense.

He was a poor influence on OJ Mayo, too. I think we now know how he was a poor influence...

if he was a white guy he never would have been pulled over/arrested. I drive around all the time smoking joints and drinking beers and the cops never hassle m. And if they do they quickly let me on my way and say go home and go to sleep.
