I am not in love. He is just on my board. I would much rather draft harden/Thebeast and take Curry/Holiday/lawson with the miami spot, but Jennings is on my board.

Re: Countdown to heartbreak (*Draft thread pt.II)
Everyone always talks about trading Griffin/Love if we somehow got the 1st pick. Why not just pick Jennings(if he's BPA) and trade him for Lawson(or maybe even Holliday) and assets? We raise our floor a bit on our shiny new rookie point guard and pick something up for the trouble.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Re: Countdown to heartbreak (*Draft thread pt.II)
I agree with J2J here. If the team is tied to a halfcourt, post game (which they seem to be) then they need to find a floor general that can play that style of game (and play defense to boot). Otherwise they are just setting themselves up for failure by collecting a bunch of parts that don't fit together. I thought the franchise was trying to get away from that.
If Jennings is the second best PG prospect and Lwason is the third, then the Wolves would probably be better off selecting Harden or DeRozan or Evans with their pick and maybe Holiday with the Miami pick.

lups understands me.
I'd love an Evans/Mullins or Evans/Maynor draft. I love Holiday, but I'm not sure how he'd pair with Evans, although, I'd be willing to take a shot at it.

BTW, how can anyone say that Jennings is the 2nd best PG behind Rubio? What has he shown that puts him above the others as far as PG-ness? Does he have the athleticism advantage over the others, yes. But besides that, as a PG, what does he do better than Maynor, Lawson, Curry, etc?

If we're just talking "fit" with the current roster, what makes Rubio such a better fit than Jennings?

Plus he has that dreamy George Harrison mop top look

Height, defense, proven player against international talent older than him, looked great in the Olympics, looks like he can move without the ball...

Rubio's defense is good against Europe's slower guards. I'm not too confident that he is going to be a great defender in the NBA.

Re: Countdown to heartbreak (*Draft thread pt.II)
Doesn't have to be great. But he does have the size, instincts, and motivation to be a solid defender.
Not saying we should necessarily build around these guys, but by taking Jennings with our pick, it's pretty much committing to Foye, Brewer, and Miller as our SGs next year, and Brewer/Foye for the near future. Jennings is too small to pair with Foye, too bad of a shooter to pair with Brewer, and too poor of a defender to pair with Foye and Miller.
PGs like Rubio, Holiday, Evans(if), and Maynor(~) have size and don't limit our options to who we can pair with them.
Really I don't think Holiday can't do any worse as the point guard for the Wolves than Jennings. Holiday can hit cutters with nice passes, he can run an offense, plus he has the size and talent to be a solid defender. I see Holiday as Captain Kirk without the 3pt shot yet, but more athleticism. Wait, can we compare a white guy and a black guy?

I agree 100% with DR. K on this. From what limited footage I've seen there is no way he can stay infront of quick NBA guard. Plus offensively most of his damage is done getting in the lane and causing havok. Didn't a not so lightning quick Jason Kidd contain him fairly well in the olympics? If he had a good jumper, some 3pt range, and a pull up jumper it would be a different ball game. He doesn't seem to have those tools yet.
He's just a fantastic ball handler and very quick when moving with the ball in confined spaces, and with court vision that seems crazy good. He certainly has a great feel for the game and high bbiq, but can you really build a championship team around fair/below average nba athletes that are simply basketball smart? We already have an undersized front court, quick nba guards are going to blow by a fresh young rubio and take it right into love/al every play. Eventually after he develops some offensive tools he probably ends up being quite effective, but defensively hmm I dunno.

Re: Countdown to heartbreak (*Draft thread pt.II)
I'm not really worried that an 18 year old kid got schooled by a savvy HOF vet PG. The question will be how does he respond to that?
He at least has shown he can play good defense against his competition and isn't that basically all we have to go off of for all the prospects? And can Jennings make that same claim?

Pairing Jennings with someone like Terrence Williams or a Gerald Henderson should they fall would not be the end of the world. Besides, we can't expect to fix everything in one year. Instead of spending our cap space in 2010 on Hinrich, maybe we do the same for a SG.

No. - 2 points.
You now have a score of 8.
Let's take a look at the scoreboard shall we:
Dr. K: 1000 points
J2J: 8 points
Rev: -2,543 points

Actually from what I saw, Rubio actually made Jason Kidd look silly on a few plays. Jason Kidd who's supposed to be a great defender got his ankles broke a couple times.

Jennings looks like a Kid N Play reject. Again, all flash, no substance. Stats are his primary goal, winning is secondary.

You need to get with the times Y2J. You're stuck in 2007 my friend. Stats/flash were only his goal when winning was so easy.
