If the Suns defy the odds and get the #1...

Post#1 » by SideSwipe » Sat May 16, 2009 12:09 am

Looking for some discussion on what might be some good ideas if we end up with the #1 pick. It is possible we'll end up with the number 2 or 3 also, but I wanted to focus on the number 1.

As an example, here we go:
Trade Stoudemire to WAS for Butler, Blatche and the #2
Trade Shaq to NOH for Chandler and Posey
Trade Richardson to UTA for Kirilenko
Sign Hill to the LLE

Nash/ Rubio/ Dragic
Butler/ Barbosa/ Tucker
Hill/ Posey/ Dudley
Griffin/ Kirilenko/ Blatche/ Amundson
Chandler/ RoLo

Give it a try and see if we can't come up with a great scenario for all of us to consider.

I doubt Washington would give up that much for Amare, but I like the trade from our perspective. Unfortunately, this has a 0.5% chance of happening, but we're bound to catch a break sometime, right?

Get Rubio so Rubio's will become a sponsor of the Suns and give out free fish tacos after every win, bring on Rubio, bring on the fish tacos.

We will sell it for $3.25 Million in cash, as opposed to $3 Million. That, or package the first with Shaq and send them away for nothing.

Would love to see it but there's no way Washington is giving up all 3 of those valuable assets for an Amar'e who may or may not re-sign. Hell they probly wouldn't do it if he was signed long term.

Yeah, there's no way we'd get Butler AND Rubio for Amare. We probably could get them in separate packaged deals, but not together. Those of you who think otherwise are seriously underrating Butler.

Thanks for the replies guys, but I was hoping for others to put up other scenarios of their own. I really only put mine up as an example. Let's take a look at what other scenarios might help us accomplish the following goals:
Get more defensive
Get more athletic
Get younger
Get under the tax
Get chamionship attitude/ swagger

Build a deal in a similar way that I did, so we can all discuss the different options out there. Thanks.

A lot of these scenarios you're after are in the offseason thread, that's why there hasn't been as many replies you're hoping for...

I'd be contempt just to add blake and still not blow up the team, I think stat and blake could work together well when the suns go small w/ stat at C like the marion days.

Granted Blake looks like he could be a perennial all star, but thats what stat already is. not that any of the trades suggested have been bad (although it'd be tough to get rubio and caron), personally i just think im overly loyal to guys like nash, marion and stat that have done so much for our team.

I'm hoping for one last run with the current group (although im okay with shaq for chandler if he's healthy) and if we get lucky and get a top three pick that will just make us deeper and better.

Butler+2 would be nice...but like many are mentioning, I don't know if WAS would do it. If we added J-Rich and they added Jamison they might do it, since they get out of Jamison's contract.

Nash/Rubio/Dragic
Butler/Barbosa/Tucker
Hill/Dudley
Jamison/Griffin
Shaq/Amundson/Lopez

Now we just need to ship Shaq to OKC for Thabeet...all in favor say "I" LOL. WAS is probably much more interested in this deal now that they only got the #5 pick.

Off the table.....

Why would OKC want shaq? I don't see why a young team that is not quite contending would want Shaq for their top 5 pick?

Maybe they think he can bring savvy and leadershipand get them to the postseason...

I'd rather try to deal with the Grizz. Chris Wallace is the dumbest GM, other than Kerr, so we can rob the maybe...
