Dwight is not the second best player in the NBA. He does not dominant enough for that rank. He has been playing against midgets in Boston and he has not been able to put up amazing numbers.

Let's see, at this point I'd rate the top 10 player of this year as:

LeBron
Kobe
Wade
Paul
Howard
Roy
Billups
Nowitzki
Gasol
Rondo

A healthy Duncan & KG would put the bottom two out.

Several other players are close, but I'd be satisfied to just take that 8 & 2 combo.

I do think it's funny that I'm seeing top 25 lists without Nash. He's become so forgotten this year, despite being the clear MVP of a team only a couple wins behind Paul & Deron's teams, who both regularly get mentioned in the top 10. Folks, Nash has dropped off some, but not that much.

I don't get why everyone has Paul as a top 5 player in the league. He simply doesn't push his team to that upper level that top 5 players are supposed to do.

He has great numbers, and his teams with the exception of last year suck ass. Awesome.

The Hornets won 49 this year with no wings, the worst bench in the league, a declined David West, and Chandler missing half the games and being crap for most of the rest. That's pretty impressive.

It's hard for Paul to take his team to the next level when they're always missing 30+ games a year with injuries.

Aside from last year name one time that Paul had even decent team on the floor with him.You should remember that not everyone is from Utah and they might not be stupid though.

If Paul ever had anything close to the talent Deron Williams has had around him every year he's played most people would expect him to seriously compete for titles.

Based on their play when healthy in 08/09, in no particular order:
LeBron
Wade
Dwight
Kobe
Paul
Yao
Dirk
Roy
Duncan
KG

Guys like Deron, Pierce, Bosh, Melo, Gasol, etc. are very close, but not quite there, IMO.

I didn't say Paul isn't a top 10 player in the league, he is for sure.

But people place him up with guys like Wade, James and Kobe, and he simply doesn't belong. He's a great player, but his team isn't feared just because he is on it.

"simply doesn't push his team"? I don't know what could possibly be simple about that being the case. Paul's team did very well with him on the court, and horrible with him off the court, and in the 2 years he's been elite player (the time before that obviously isn't relevant to this discussion), his team was once an elite contender, and once a 49 win team despite injury issues (which was why they played so terrible when he wasn't on the court).

If you are correct in your assessment, it is only through extremely advanced and detailed study that you could have reached that conclusion. Or of course, simple luck that it happened to agree with a bias against the dude that most Jazz fans have. ;)
