It looks like Mascot's idea wins out. I'm sort of in agreement with Vintage, but it becomes difficult because: where do you draw the line? Kobe? Wade? Duncan?

So we are going to be able to pick players like Wilt, Bird, Magic, Jordan etc?

Sure, u can draft them, but since they aren't playing much in the NBA these days, they 'll be counted as 0.

how about everyone gets 2 players from the 1992 draft to the 1996 draft.

1 - 12 then 12 - 1. Its easy. I take kobe first for exaple. then i get the 24th pick. get it? then every team has 14 players. 2 from that time line, and 12 from the next 12 drafts. its not hard.

That wouldn't solve the protections on guys like Lebron who was drafted in 2003.

im saying do that after we get our "assigned teams with players"

so who ever get the cavs and lebron which we all agree is the best player, get the 12 pick. so they would pick 12 and 13 for the years 1992 - 1996.

who ever get the lakers with kobe get the 11th pick, and the 14th pick.

who ever get the heat with wade gets the 10th pick, and the 15 pick.

and so one. Obviously kobe wouldnt be in the draft then. so you wont be able to take him.

then we go with the same order that was already made up.

I think we should just have the first round as a franchise player round where you can pick any player in the NBA to be your franchise player [no pool needed] and then we continue with the drafting as usual. This way, there's no restriction on who we can have as our franchise player [i.e. Bosh can be picked]. The top draft picks should go to the people, i.e. Mascot, that have the weakest draft picks overall in the actual draft so what ends up happening is that although he gets LeBron, he'll have a worse supporting cast than the team that gets, say, Dirk. This should be THE MOST even way to do things and leave the most up to drafting. All that would require is for cellar/fool/gremz to come up with a suitable draft order.

Or, you could just go with an RNG again for this but the problem there is that if CB-Blazer wins first pick and takes LeBron, he ends up with LeBron + Bosh/Melo which would be slightly hard to beat.

If my first idea is not chosen i vote for bness' idea in the post above mine.

But how do you determine who has the worst draft picks? It seems too subjective.

I like both but I'd prefer if we take into account the weak draft classes. I've got my 2nd pick in 97, where Duncan will be protected, Billups will either be protected or go 1st and I'm left with a broken down T-Mac that no longer plays games at this point. Still it would be hard to 'rate' who has the best to worst draft situations so I don't know. Either way is fine with me.

Unless your team is godly at drafting(or gets Kobe,Garnett and Rondo thrown onto your lap) the team with Lebron wins, because most fans just see Lebron, with a decent supporting cast and scream "Lebron in 3".

I understand the judging will be different, but it's so difficult when one team starts with Lebron, and the other guy gets stuck with building his team around Chris bosh, who is great in his own right, but just doesn't quite measure up.

DCash's first pick is actually the last pick in the 2000 draft. Then I will give him his own supplemental draft where he can choose players from his local high school to round out his team.

and he'd still end up with a better roster than some I've seen in games like this.

Ok, trying to get caught up here...

We're going to each select a team right?
If so, when will the order for selecting teams be announced?
Are weaker draft positions given a higher selection when picking teams?
What is the judging criteria?
How will injuries effect the game?
When does this thing kickoff?
