Bobcats War Room- Pick 10 for 2009

Post#1 » by August Us Seazr » Sat May 16, 2009 5:07 pm

Well done, gentlemen (and ladies too if you happen to be lurking around and not posting!) We have 9 top prospects on the big board. At Nine, you have collectively selected Earl Clark of Louisville. But Stephen Curry had a chance, finishing just two votes out of the lead.

We now return to our search for that great ordering of things draft... because at each and every point, we won't know what our board values as a collective group until we unite on a winner. So far-our top nine looks like:
Griffin----Rubio----Harden----DeRozan----Evans----Thabeet----Hill----Williams----Clark...

The thing you must do is decide who is the next PRIORITY for the Bobcats of 2009-10 and beyond. Easy.......well, no.
Rewarding...........Heck yeah!

We all have our opinions. And although the Bobcats brass SHOULDN'T care how the fans think when they are evaluating talent, they SHOULD care about how the fans think about the players themselves. And since Buzz Peterson has left the Bobcats for Appalachain State, shouldn't the brass be looking for any edge we can help provide????? So, should we trade ourselves into the 10 hole, who is the MAN for the job? (Fill in the BLANK from the above poll.) Two days this time, since we are weekending this one. Answers on Monday-Claw on CATS!

Think of this post as a scale, from my no way to the actual person I vote for.

Not My 10th Pick selection-

Brandon Jennings, Jonny Flynn, Tywon Lawson and Eric Maynor- All point guards. We don't need point guards. Case closed there.

B. J. Mullens- Come back when you get GAME! Right now, we have Alexis Ajinca. You'd be a waste of additional space. And Ajinca actually comes with some potential to play NBA ball. Nope.

James Johnson- Local. Check. Power Forward. Position of need. Good Value for Bobcats- Not at 10.

That brings me back to the shooting guards- Henderson, Curry, and Budinger. All could be nice players on our roster. Henderson would be the "Pure" shooting guard. Curry could spell the PG position on an emergency basis, eliminating the usefulness of L'il Sean and creating a roster spot for a big. Budinger can also slide into the small forward position, should Crash crash. I know it's up to Larry Brown in reality, but if I'm Larry Brown.....I like the Charlotte guy..........

My 10th Pick- Stephen Curry

I'll keep my word... Henderson..

I worry how Curry's game will translate to the NBA. I'll think he'll be okay, but I see him initially as a spot up shooter.

I'd take Jennings if I knew I had a deal in the works. Select him for another team.

For all who vote for Curry I am just gonna say I can't wait for the season to start. Ill gloat then.

You have to pick Jennings here. You sign and trade Felton or make a package including Jennings and try and make a deal. I thought you would have learned this from last year but when a Lopez or a Jennings slips and there is no good reason for it you have to take him, Doesn't matter that we don't need a pg. We "didn't need a Center" and now Lopez is a Net. Look how that worked out.

Why do you all hate Jennings so much?

Let me go ahead and answer it for all of you...It's because he didn't play college basketball. It's because he spent the last year playing difficult games against professionals with years of experience instead of putting up 20 and 10 against a bunch of kids.

It's mind boggling to me that people could prefer Twill or Earl Clark to him.

And I could care less if he is a point guard. Why are we more willing to bring in competition for Crash than Felton? Does anyone really think Felton is a better player right now? Why are we avoiding bringing in competition for him and not Crash or Mek?

I liked the clips I've seen from Jennings, but you're absolutely right, I've only seen him in highlights, not full games. I guess I'll be voting for him next, I'm not very fond of Henderson.

It's hard for me to vote for someone I haven't seen so can't have an educated opinion of. Jennings fits into that mold for me because I have never once seen him play.

Felton already has competition in DJ. I'd rather that be a 2 horse race at this stage rather than 3.

Agreed. I think from what is left, he has the most potential to be a big scoring threat for us.

1 concern with Jennings is that he is not a good shooter.
We've been debating in another thread if Felton's shot will improve or not, I think with Jennings we will be continuing that discussion for a few more years.

With time expired, the 10th name on our draft board is Stephen Curry. Thanks to all who voted. We are getting very close to neck and neck balloting. This was the second consecutive vote decided by less than 3 votes. Keep it coming, guys. 20 more names to select! On to number 11.
