Re: Twist Draft Discussion (Draft Order Up)
how about we give the person who drafts last in the 1997 draft the opportunity to pick his franchise player first.

Charlotte Hornets
SGA
Ant Man/Tyler Herro
Dillon Brooks/Royce Oneil/Julian Champagnie
Domatas Sabonis/Cam Johnson
Mitch Robinson

Re: Twist Draft Discussion (Draft Order Up)
I think we need to go by strength of drafting position. Like take an average of where each GM drafts, for example I draft on average at the 7.5 mark, while Bness average's 6.6 and Hoffa is at @ 5.4
Its only fair

Re: Twist Draft Discussion (Draft Order Up)
i think there should be a weight avg done for each draft class like rank it between 0.01-1.0 with the strongest draft class getting a higher number and the weaker drafts a lower number. like having the first pick in the 2000 draft is nothing compared to having the 1st-4th pick in the 2003 draft. And then the times ur position in the draft with the the number between 0.01-1.0 given to that draft to determine where u stand in the draft. At the end we could add up all the scores and the person with the highest score could choose first.
for example without looking at the strength of the draft classes we could do:
97-.05
98-.05
99-.10
00-.05
01-.15
02-.10
03-.15
04-.10
05-.05
06-.1
07-.05
08-.05
and then times that number on where u draft
for example
97-12
98-5
99-6
00-8
01-2
02-4
03-5
04-6
05-9
06-10
07-11
08-12
and then u times the draft number by the weighted avg(im not doing it as i dont have a calc on me.)
and the lower the number u have the better the team u have so the later u should have to pick ur franchise player.

Re: Twist Draft Discussion (Draft Order Up)
Haha...overthink much? Alright guys, I'm going to try and get a draft order for franchise players done tonight/tomorrow. The problem isn't your 1-4 guys like Mascot and Denied and such, it's everything after that. It's awful subjective and being 5 instead of 8 can be a difference of Tim Duncan to Deron Williams.

Re: Twist Draft Discussion (Draft Order Up)
May I also point out that the players likely to be protected should also be considered. For example, in 03, LeBron/Wade/possibly Bosh and Melo won't be available so that won't actually be THAT strong a draft. Similarly, in 06, Roy will likely be protected and after that there are no real superstar/star players.

You could be right. A lot would depend on whether Bosh or Melo are taken of course. I actually have the 03 draft as my #3 draft in terms of quality, and tbh it could easily be #4. There is still amount of quality left in that draft though.
As for 06, you're right it's not super, but I do see some decent options available. There are 6 or 7 guys that I'd be more than happy to use in a team.

Re: Twist Draft Discussion (Draft Order Up)
Yeah, I'm not advocating any drafts being weaker in particular or anything, I just wanted to make sure that was taken into consideration.

We spent ample time coming up with best and worst case scenarios.
It really doesn't matter what method we used, someone would find a problem with it. At least with this projected order there is a very common medium of talent across the board. Of course some teams will benefit more than others, but as I've stated previously, simply have LeBron means nothing to me.
Just draft the best you can, and you're all in with a chance in this thing.

Re: Twist Draft Discussion (Draft Order Up)
It's not particularly fair. But let's be honest: there's no draft game that's ever completely fair. The twist draft complicates it even further by limited draft pools each year. Gremz and I essentially trying to predict the sorts of "big threes" being created by hypothetical draft positions and make it as even as we could. Some people, as always, are at disadvantages, but there's always the potential for trades and the ability to draft well. DCash drafted like 13th and tied a Lebron-led team a few games back. It's not impossible, though it is hard if the top guys are drafting well.

No complaints here. When can we start drafting?

Agreed, when can we start drafting?
And is the 1st round 97 and prior?

Re: Twist Draft Discussion (Franchise Draft Order Up)
The first round will be the franchise player round. You can select anyone that logged minutes in the NBA this year.

Re: Twist Draft Discussion (Franchise Draft Order Up)
I still think the fact that you guys factored in who in history has been better drafters, is bogus... Thats like saying, "So Sacramento, altough you only won 17 games this season, just a few years back you were a pretty decent squad, so we're not giving you as many ping pong balls as Memphis, who really never has been worth a damn". I think you guys thought way too much into this and should have stuck with a statistical analysis. With that being said, you both are right no one will ever be happy in these games because its very hard to be fair (not impossible). If you wanna even things up a bit, maybe the bottom 4 drafters in the first round should get a first round bye
... Just a thought

thats not a bad idea
then instead of this
First Round - 12 teams - 6 matchups
Second Round - 6 teams - 3 matchups
Thrid Round - 3 teams - ummm
it would be
First Round - 12 teams - 4 matchups
Second Round - 8 teams - 4 matchups
Third Round - 4 teams - 2 matchups
Fourth Round - 2 teams - 1 matchup
which makes a lot more sense

Re: Twist Draft Discussion (Franchise Draft Order Up)
6th pick? hmmm... not too bad I guess. I can definitely pick a very good player there. Although CB-Blazer, I must warn you, I might just be tempted to break your heart with mt pick
