I'm proud of this Team

Post#1 » by return2glory » Mon May 18, 2009 3:01 am

I'm proud of our team. Sure I wanted them to play better in the last game, but I'm still proud of them. They took a good Magic team to 7 games without KG and Powe. We has no inside game what so ever but we still went this far.

I'm especially proud of Perkinsm Rondo, and BBD. These guys outplayed Pierce and Ray during some of the games. They played without a lot of pride and heart. We can't win every year.

With no KG, no Powe, no bench, is was amazing we went this deep in the playoffs. I give props to this team, Doc, Tom T. Clifford Ray and the entire coaching staff.

Was debating making this topic.

We just watched a team composed of a couple 30+ year olds (Ray, Paul), a couple late first rounders and a second rounder with limited experience (Rondo, Perk, Davis) play their hearts out to two highly contested series at 40 minutes every other night. Along with a bench filled with second rounders (Scal, Powe for a time, House) and a guy out of the league for a year and a half and left for dead on his last team who played hard every possession (Marbury). All without the best player on the team that won them a championship last year.

Let's be real, we weren't winning the Championship unless KG was going to come back next series. We were exhausted, tested, and they still gave it everything. We could have folded over and just said we'll try to come back healthy next year, but we didn't. I am hopeful for next year, because I think this brought the team a ton of experience. The loss of another 4-14 playoff games may come as a blessing to this team, given the number of games we've played the past two years. Our core is old and they should get some rest, then work hard, and hopefully come back better with a better team around them.

I totally agree. This team gave everything they had and played with so much heart that it's hard not to be proud of them. It might have ended too soon, but the playoffs were a heck of a ride.

By the end of round two, game six, I was officially proud of our guys. Yeah, it would have been much better to move on to the next round, but this team really played well considering all the injuries over the past 2-3 months. They gave their all for the first round and much of the second; I think the team just ran out of gas. Kudos to the Magic and Cavs this year, and I think the Celtics will be retooled, hungry, and ready to make another run in 2010.

Agreed its really tough being mad right now because this team would NEVER DIE! I mean we had so many game winners and comebacks to end the regular season then went on to beat Chi without KG and Powe and took Orlando to 7, thanks for the fun!

I agree.. great showing. Props to scal for being there when he was called. I'm all for keeping our core perk,kg,pierce, ray, rondo, bbd, powe, house, scal and marbury. we just have to add a long center and a sf who can both contribute..

We had a very good season, but some of the performances in the post season were mind boggling, like it was a young, inexperienced team out there and not a defending champion type team.

I too am proud of this team, but that had to be the worst 4th quarter in any Game 7 in the history of the NBA Playoffs.

I am proud...62 wins despite being depleted by injuries in a year when everyone wants to see Kobe-LeBron, we were 1 game from the ECF and showed how fraudulent the Magic are...good season...

I loved the heart and passion players showed, never gave up, regardless of so many odds against Celtics this year. You do what you can, and leave the rest for the history.
Who would win one-on-one in HORSE?

Bird: Nobody beats me in H-O-R-S-E. Besides, Magic cant shoot.

Magic: Larry, you'd have no chance against me one-on-one. I've got too many ways to beat you. Plus, as slow as I am, I'm still faster than you.

Not only that, I can take solace in the fact that the Magic needed to have an aberration-game as far as 3 pt shooting goes, in order to win as easily as they did...

May they get shredded in 5 by Cleveland!

They did get far and with younger legs I'm sure this entire season would be different.

But if KG/Pierce/Allen had younger legs they'd all be playing on different teams.

Yeah, definitely...and with a better bench it would have been different, too...this was shades of '87 all over again...

Alright man, I mean, yes, the Magic shot freakishly well from beyond the arc, but the Celtics also rolled over and died in the face of Orlando's defense. You have to give the Magic's D some credit.

I was thinking the same thing. This team has the same heart and never-die-attitude that the 1986-87 team had. Also the same story with the injuries.
