As far as what Marion is getting, he seems to be chasing the money this year, so him signing for cheap to go to a contender is out of the question. He's also said in press conferences that hes looking for that last big contract of his career, so he wants a contract with multiple years. So it seems like his bottom is at the full MLE for 5 years so like around 30 mill. None of the teams with capspace now seem to have interest in him as far as paying over the MLE for him, so the other option is he resigns with the raptors, or we do a sign and trade. If my Raps sign him, the total guaranteed money IMO would have to be over 30mill for it to make it worthwhile for Marion, even if its less years. Ideally, my raps would resign him for about 24 mill over 3 years, its really what i think hes worth as far as current and future value, since his game is based a lot on athleticism. I also think its the most Colangelo would go for, if he chooses to sign him at all. Colangelo's been talking a lot about a possible sign and trade with Marion this off-season, almost too much for a gm that seriously plans to sign his free agent lol, and Marion acts like our reporters are speaking french when they even mention the MLE to him, so a sign-and-trade seems to be the most likely option. The deal for Marion in a sign and trade will probably be at max 8-9mill over 3 years with a player option for a 4th year. And hopefully it will be from a team that would be willing to give up atleast a prospect back to the Raps.
Talk of Marions decline has been a little overblown, he averaged close to 16-9 at like 50% shooting in our final stretch where we went like 10-5 and were finally healthy. Marion was a pretty good defender, but seemed to actually be better at guarding the opposing teams guard then their sf lol. Gerald wallace went off on him, but he shut down Chicagos pg's down the stretch which really helped out Jose. As far as rebounding goes he was amazing, we actually had th best defensive rebounding in the league with him and Pops, and our offensive rebounding was alot better since we have Bargnani playing on the perimeter. Hes also still good for a block and steal a game. Offensively, i dont know how he ever averaged 30+% from 3, hes a pretty terrible shooter lol, probably all those years at playing pf, but hes still one of the best in the league in the transition, it took Jose a while to learn the throw him the alley-oop off of the fast break, a more free flowing pg like nash would still do wonders for him. Other then flashy dunks, hes still gotta decent post game, although he has one of the hardest touches around the net ive ever seen, it seems to go in half the time. Hes still a great athlete, but i dont know how long it will last, although he has shown no signs of slowing down. Ultimately hes a system player, where his stats at miami are way closer to his bottom then his ceiling, but to get back to averaging 20 points hell have to work on his shooting, and have a great pg like Nash to facilitate his transition game.
Im not sure if hes a great pickup for you guys, Playing off Shaq and Amare it might be better to have a better shooter on the court but he would definetly be great on D and you would be a stellar rebounding team, so it wouldn't be a bad pickup. If your going to get him though it would most likely have to be a sign-and-trade, so what would you be willing to give up? knowing Sarver probably your pick for starters lol. IMO if your going to make a run at a player it should be Artest. I know hell probably resign with Houston, but its worth a shot. I wanted you guys to trade for him last year, but i guess barnes was cheaper. He would be amazing playing for you since he can defend 4 positions like Marion, shows great defensive intensity and toughness which you need, but also shoot the ball really well, so can play well in the half court especially off shaq and amare. And his off court issues probably wouldnt be a problem with all the larger personalities already on the suns lol.
As far as Jrich + Tucker for Marion + Parker goes, its not a bad deal, id like it more if you threw in your pic lol. I wouldnt do it if we could resign Marion at that price, he brings so much to our team, hes the perfect compliment to Bosh and Bargnani and i would love to see what they can all do healthy, but chances of him resigning here doesnt seem to be that great, colangelo doesnt really even seem that interested in resigning him though it could be a bluff. J-Rich would be an upgrade at sg, but waht we really need is one who can defend well, and create their own shot, we have enough good shooters although J-rich would be a great one for us, what we need is someone to run iso plays for and someone to take that clutch shot. I wouldnt hate the trade just hope theres better out there for us. Also, Parker is a pretty good player, though hes getting old. He used to be a really good defender now hes just a good one, still good for a steal a game though and a really good shooter, has a clutch pocket 3 ball but not a clutch player overall, not someone you can run iso plays for. He would be similar to Raja Bell for you guys, and would probably start at the 2 for you to be honest, with Barbosa coming off the bench. Also, Parker can play the point decently as hes got good handles and can guard opposing 1's, hes just not very explosive in cutting. Hill is a better scorer but at the 3? i dunno i would rather bring him in when Nash is out to run the offense, or when you go small and push Marion to the 4. To be honest though if Hill cant be effective in a bench role and hes forsure resigning with you guys i dunno if you should do this deal.
good post man

Re: So Shawn Marion's a free agent...
I can see where you guys would like to add a player like Shawn for his defense and athletic prowess but, if you remember, he had a huge problem here with us not running specific plays for him. He is not a good shooter at all (streakey at times ill give him that), and cant take any one, one on one and create either a driving bucket or free himself for a high percentage shot, no real post game to speak of, and had the audacity to be mad that he wasnt more of an option in the ofense with Nash and amare here, well now we also have Shaq, so he will be even less of an option. From recent chatter coming out of Tor., it dose not seem like his ego has shrunk. Would love for his skill set to be on the team covering the defensive weak side, on ball defense, and flashing to the hoop for allyoops, rebounds and back taps to keep the ball alive, but thats role player stuff. Last i heard he will not consder himself to be one of those. I like Parker (Free AGENT!!!) He is a Raja Bell clone, tough defensive minded and the guy can shoot. Hell if Tor. is interested in J. Rich, i would try to sucker them into a Richardson, for s&t Parker and Joey Graham, Joey is better than you guys think, he would not only be a steal but would start here in this system for a long time.... sory for the long post but i am compelled to mention one more point... every suns fan is clamoring for sf. who is defensive minded tenatious, willing to relish the role as a stopper if nothing else and will be ready to do what ever to help you win, if Jared Dudly were more athletic he would be absolutely awesom. His b-ball I.Q. his mindset, his enthusiasim, if it were possible for him to attend one of those athletic camps where (there is one in the valley) and it actually extend his game to above the rim and more explosion, it would be a rap, he would be an allstar, he has the tools, he can shoot defend, he is smart, selfless, i really like the kid i hope we keep him and let him develope

^yeah I'd love Parker here too. No ego, he's slowed a bit but is what we get from Hill but with a 3 point shot and less D. Still, just the sort of rock solid guy we need off the bench/spot starting at the 2
I'd love Marion here...but Hill at 1/6 the price>Marion

Re: So Shawn Marion's a free agent...
yeah, when Marion was here, during games i was constantly thinking, hell now we can trade him while his value is high and get a real piece back, because hill is either as good or better than him( less athletic, but better shooter and b-ball I.Q.), to get a real good good player to help. Shaq was the gamble they took, and it didnt pan out, oh well they get a nod for trying. This year hill had his best year in a suns uni, ben button is getting younger. All jokes aside J. Rich for Graham+Parker, helps fulfill our goal, get younger and more athletic, Graham would accept coming off the bench, so would parker, and honestly, i would rather start Parker, when is said Raja Bell clone i mean other than his D, he is a very smart player, and i think a better fit with the starters with his defense, timely shooting, and role player mentality. With Nash, Amare, and a lean (fingers crossed) Shaq in the starting lineup, you dont need a guy like Barbosa, or Richardson going one on one, or chucking up bad shots, when no one is expecting them to hoist it, and cant adjust to try to go to the boards. Parker knows his game, you wont see a damn missed 360 slam dunk at crunch time(aaarrrrhhhhh RICHARDSON!!!!!!!!), or a damn 12 foot running finger roll going away from the basket when we are in need of a basket( dunk the damn ball Barbosa, you are already above the rim 2 hands to be sure, either foul me or get dunked on).
