MNF: Tony Out, Chucky In

Post#1 » by ReasonablySober » Mon May 18, 2009 3:41 pm

This might be enough to get me to watch MNF now. Gruden has been awesome in front of the camera and I loved his work on the draft.

Tony is outstanding on PTI, but he was a train wreck on MNF.

Kornheiser was awful on MNF. He talked too frequently and when he did it was usually about Favre, even in games Favre wasn't playing in. I like Gruden, he will tell it like it is. Still not a Tirico fan, but a big Jaws fan.

Gruden will be interesting. He wants to coach again next year, we'll see how much/little he critiques players/teams/coaches.

I like Kornheisers radio show but the MNF gig was not for him.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Tirico is about the most forgettable ESPN personality out there. Not good, not bad, just very average. I didn't like him taking over for Patrick on the radio and he's yet to make any kind of impression in the booth.

I agree, he is kind of a "jack of all trades but master of none" when it comes to sports casting. He can do almost any sport, but isn't great at any. I also was disappointed with the decision to use him as a replacement for Dan Patrick (who's current morning show is WAAAAYYYY better than Mike and Mike btw), I wanted Scott Van Pelt to get his own show. There are some other sportscenter anchors I'd be curious to hear on the radio over Tirico as well.

Kornheiser is great on the radio, i'd even say he is better on the radio than on PTI and I like PTI. He was awful on MNF, even worse than Dennis Miller IMO.

Awesome news. I couldn't stand Kornheiser in the booth. Instead of watching basically every week, it got to the point were I'd only watch if the Packers were on.

Yea, I love DP's show.

M&M aren't even entertaining, they're embarrassing. It's like they tailor their show to the middle-aged housewife. The shtick was old years ago.

I like Cowherd for the most part. He isn't afraid to have opinions and I like that. He used to come off as know-it-all and condescending to me but now I think he's entertaining and thought provoking. Once Tirico and SVP come on the air I switch over to Rome. When he stays on sports and does interviews he's really good. When he starts taking calls I can't flip to another station fast enough. All the smack-offs and takes are absolutely brutal to listen to.

I used to love Kuselius when he was on during my drive home from work or school a couple years ago. He really knows his stuff, is entertaining and he'd give you some useful information.

I couldn't stand Kornheiser. I'm not sure if I'll like Gruden, but at least he gives the booth some much needed credibility.

Great to hear, Kornheiser was the worst game announcer in any sport that i've ever heard. To think he was actually in the booth for MNF was mind boggling.
