Krilenko / Ray Allen trade

Post#1 » by I_Love_This_Game!! » Tue May 19, 2009 1:51 am

Boston trades / Utah receives:
Ray Allen
Glen "Big Baby" Davis (S&T)
2012 #1 Pick (top 5 protected)

Utah trades / Boston receives:
Andrei Kirilenko
Ronnie Brewer
Jarron Collins (S&T)

Why this trade works for Boston:
The Big 3 are past their prime. Although Allen had an excellent year this year, he is the most logical to be dealt as Pierce will most likely retire a Celtic and they cannot replace KG's size and intensity. With this trade, the C's acquire Kirilenko who is a bit overpaid, but would become yet another key Celtics 6th man. They also acquire Brewer who is an adequate rotation player and would inject some youth into the starting lineup. Collins is cap filler. Their new lineup:

PG...Rondo...Marbury
SG...Brewer...T. Allen
SF...Pierce...Kirilenko
PF...Garnett...Powe
C...Perkins...Collins

Why this trade works for Utah:
Ray Allen is a champion. His experience and toughness are exactly what Utah needs to get to the next level. He would bring the shooting needed to space the floor on pic and rolls with Boozer and Millsap. And, he would be a terrific mentor for their SG of the future (CJ Miles). Big Baby showed during the playoffs that he is a very good player and would fit nicely into their starting unit. Their new lineup:

PG...Williams..Knight
SG...Allen...Miles
SF...Davis...Korver
PF...Boozer...Millsap
C...Okur...Koufos

What do you think?
My Dream Team
PG...Magic Johnson...Steph Curry
SG...Michael Jordan...Kobe Bryant
SF...Larry Bird...Elgin Balyor
PF...Tim Duncan...Hakeem Olajuwon
C...Kareem Abdul-Jabbar...Wilt Chamberlain

I can just see all 6-9 280 pounds of Davis getting beaten on the perimeter by every small forward in the game. If we play zone 3-point shooting teams kill us, if we play man on man Robert Kurz scores 60 next time we play Golden State. As much as I love Ray Allen this is an easy no--from both sides.

Brewer and Kirilenko are probably worth more to Utah then Allen.
Allen is probably worth more to Boston then Brewer and Kirilenko.

Also, a 2012 pick? Hot damn...

Something makes me wanna believe a Rondo/Brewer pairing could work good though.

Kirilenko's contract is obscene. No way Boston does this. If anything, I wouldn't be surprised if Kirilenko is moved for expirings(if Boozer and Okur decide not to opt out), and I also wouldn't be surprised if Utah could'n't find expirings for Kirilenko.

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A STARTING BACKCOURT OF RONDO AND BREWER!

It would be hilarious to watch both guards on the opposing team play 10 feet off the two of them and let them clank away from the perimeter. That lane would be packed like a can of sardines.
