Steve Nash is one of the many desirable names on the long, intoxicating list of 2010 free agents.

Yet it's looking increasingly probable that this summer will be the offseason that brings clarity to Nash's future, via one of two outcomes:

1. He will sign the multiyear contract extension that the Suns have been preparing for him.

2. The possibility that the Suns get a trade offer for Nash too good to resist.

Phoenix is expected to make Amare Stoudemire and Shaquille O'Neal available in trades this offseason, just as it did before the February trading deadline, but NBA front-office sources say that the Suns will soon be getting trade pitches for Nash, ready or not.

Dallas Mavericks:

Cuban's ambitious target, in his words, is a "young perennial All-Star." That probably translates to pressing Toronto about its willingness to part with Dallas native Chris Bosh, but since the Raps continue to say they have no interest in moving Bosh, I could see the Mavs' sniffing around Atlanta to see if Josh Smith will be made available. I don't understand why the Mavs top targets would be PFs like Bosh and Josh. Dirk is their PF and I don't see that changing. The sad thing is they could probably use a young, fast penetrating PG like Devin Harris.

I don't understand Josh Smith at all for Dallas. Some of the fans don't seem to understand his game and how bad his shooting is. People see shot blocking, rebounding and high energy and seem to think they can force it to work.

The teams that have power forwards already and that have an interest for Chris Bosh need to find out if he actually wants to play center. Teams and fans seem to think they can just move him to the 5 as if he should just be fine with it. The same can be said about Amare who seems to be happier as a 4.

hmffl, they have an offense that uses screens and pick n rolls and they move without the basket ball. they have a TRUE #1 option in dirk. They have a coach that at times do dumb stuff(like starting terry in game 5) knows how to use his players in their best abilty. they can put smoove to where he takes limited jumpshots and scores inside. its very simple and any coach with common since would do that but unfortunanly our coach dont have any of those qualitys.

Actually, I could see Smith working pretty well in DAL. Dirk is the outside F; Smith stays inside. If you use your better athlete to cover Dirk, then Smith is a mismatch down low. If you use your better athlete to stop Smith cutting to the basket, then you have the lesser athlete having to stay with Dirk. On D, Smith takes the better athlete always.

Unfortunately, I don't see much that a) I want from DAL and b) they are willing to give up. Howard would be nice, but if they picking off our roster, then we should get more. But there are no prospects and I don't think they can trade a 1st until '12 due to the Kidd trade.

Rick is actually very smart and it's not his fault Jason Terry didn't perform well during the playoffs. He's doing a very good job with the lack of depth he has. Your placing blame on Coaches (including Woodson) and none on the players. From what I have observed with Josh Smith and Coach Woodson is that the two of them don't have a strong relationship (obvious I know). I don't see any truths between the two of them and Josh Smith doesn't seem to care to listen to his head coach. At this point during Smith's career it doesn't appear that he's looking for anyone to control him and that was obvious when Mike Bibby was holding his hands high like "WTF" when Josh decided to bring the ball up the court several times after rebounding the ball.

Outside forward as far as what? If your talking about 3-pointer shooting, no, because Dirk doesn't attempt as many 3-pointers these days. He played 81 games and made 61 of them. Josh Smith at the 3 would be extremely frustrating for Dallas and for Dirk. I don't see it working out.

I don't see much for Atlanta to grow on, so I do agree with you about the lack of talent Atlanta can acquire from Dallas. Jerry Stackhouse is valuable due to only 2 million being guaranteed of his 7 million. I think Josh Smith would have to agree to any trade and I doubt he does. I want a star for Josh and not a bunch of role players from Dallas.

We should kick Bibby to the curb and sign Nash's old ass, and pair him up with his old teammate JJ. Wont happen but id love to see it. Maybe trade Josh for Amare.

HMffl, when he says outside F he basically means he doesnt play in the post except once in a blue moon and even then he fades away(i give him credit he makes it). Dallas would be a perfect place for smith. Dirk doesn't hold the ball for a hundred years. Woodson has yelled at smith for stuff i agree with(cussing anthony johnson out) and stuff i don't agree with( calling him selfish for doing stuff that invisible joe would get a pass for...bobcats game).

but why is me and you discussing this? they have nobody we want period. if it aint for bosh or amare then(in old skool terms) KILL DAT NOIZE!
