Lidge?
Okay, this may be a little out there, but why not try to fortify our bullpen with Brad Lidge? Of course, this is assuming the Astros will look to deal him...

If I were Cashman, I'd be looking for starting pitching. If your starters could go deeper into games, the bullpen would be fine. As much as it pains me to say this, the Yankees HAD a good bullpen and probably still do. But pitching 3-4 innings EVERY single night is going to kill it before the all star break.
Also, Lidge is a headcase right now. The LAST place you want to throw him is into the Red Sox-Yankees playoff series. You might as well as call up a scrub of AAA. mahalo

Lidge's problems are all in his head, in my opinion. I think a change of uniform would help his cause. He still has the stuff, and his leash in Houston was way too short this season...one blown save...

Like Joe gives a chance for guys to prove themselves. If they did well once, Joe uses them everyday no matter the results. If they fail the first time, Joe won't use them again. -Jitpal

Well I'm pretty sure Houston took into account all of last season as well.
just a little fun fact...I believe a read somewhere that Lidge's ERA Post Pujols 2005 homer is a little over 7

"The guy is an idiot," Pedroia said regarding Cabrera. "I dropped my bat. It kind of freaked me out. I was upset they took him out of the game. He is good to hit. He's 9-15. The guy [stinks]."

Lidge would make Farnsworth look like Orel Hershiser in terms of being able to handle pressure on the mound.
