Tonight we are landing the top 3 baby!

Post#1 » by Calinks » Tue May 19, 2009 9:07 pm

Yep, I'm certain my friends., Too many times has this team gotten the shaft. Well tonight, the law of averages dictates that we will be picking in the top 3. Get ready to celebrate and dance in the streets because TOMNIGHT its all going. It's already been written!

We're going to get pick 3 and it's going to be the exact same as if we hadn't moved up at all.

Then we draft "Tha Beast"! and you beg him for forgiveness as the wolves raise that NBA championship banner in 4 years. I've already seen that future scenario.

actually pick 5 would be if we did not move up or down.

pick 3 is just ironic unless #2 is the racist GM that wont pick white guys. (DX)

I know we would technically be moving up, I meant there's no difference between 3 and 5 this year.

Speaking of which, you're going to find a lot of differing opinions about Rubio's ability to translate his style of play to the NBA. Some scouts still question his athleticism and perimeter shooting, with one GM we spoke to recently going as far as to say that he would “never draft a white guy.” Another NBA scout pointed out his incredible natural talent and basketball IQ, saying that “it's impossible for a player this smart not to end up being successful.”

Anyone watch the ESPN draft special?

If Billis is right, Rubio's still there at #2, with Thabeet going second.

I remain unconvinced.

I'm much rather be assured of Harden than have to choose between what's left later. I like DeRozan and Evans/Jennings would be ok, but the man with the 6'11'' wingspan would be a no-brainer.

I wouldn't say Thabeet would be going second, but I will say fans on realgm like Rubio a hell of a lot more than most of the NBA people I've talked to, but there is a wide range of opinions.

And the GM who said he'd never draft a white guy is actually a very good one.

I should also point out that from a trading standpoint, the #3 isn't so bad. Sure, the top 2 are better, but its likely that unlike right now, by draft time, the #3 won't be seen in the same class as, say, #7.

Over the next month as the players and analyzed, measured, interviewed, and asked to perform on the court, their values will go up and down a great deal. At this point, I don't know which player might rise closest to the Top Two, but I think "somebody" will impress and perhaps distinguish himself in the eyes of some GM's. Personally, I don't think anyone will completely jump the perceived large gap between two and three, but its probably likely that we'll see one the these next few prospects jump ahead of the others.

Does James Harden really have a 6'11" wingspan? If that's the case, he moves ahead of DeRozan and Thabeet for me, as my 4th favorite guy. If he measures at a legit 6'5" and decent athleticism, I could be happy with him. 6'11" wingspan on a 6'5" guy is insane. Or was that actually his standing reach? Stubby arms. ;-)

Tyreke Evans has a documented 6'11.25" wingspan. Just saying.

It would be really hard for me to push strong for Harden if he is 6'4" or under. Never again.

Tonight we get our hands on Number 1.

We need another Griffin in Minnesota.

If Harden is 6'5" with a 6'11" wingspan, LEGIT, then he's my number 4. Tyreke Evans is my number 3, especially if he's over 6'5.5" with a 6'11.25" wingspan. The enormous wingspan makes him even more like Dwayne Wade.

Those things mean next to nothing to me. We've seen how tall he plays already. A tape measure isn't going to change what he's done on the court or will do on the court in the future.
