6th man is basically essential. he would get around 32 minutes per game,

underated defender ,very long and can score and is clutch, although he wouldnt take as many bad shots on the celtics

a better version of posey imo

If we wouldn't pay Posey for that length of time, why would we pay Jackson that?

Because Jackson is a far better player than Posey is.

Posey is a catch and shoot role player who lacks the ability to create for himself, let alone create for others the way Jackson can (6.5 assists per game this year). Jackson can get to the line, hit 3's, defend, rebound and pass. He's also hit a lot of clutch shots in the Warriors games I've seen. The only knocks on him would be his shot selection and turnovers, but he's played in an incredibly unstructured system in Golden State and could probably improve his shot selection just by being traded.

Getting Jackson for expirings would be a huge addition to the Celtics. Don't know if it has any chance of happening, though.

Jackson is a more talented player than Posey, I'd be reluctant to call him that much better.

Even if he is, respectfully, he is not a good ball-handler (which is exactly what our team doesn't need), his question making (ETA - decision making) is questionable even if respectable...there is no guarantee he would fit into the team concept extremely well. Plus he's 31 years old. At this age injury issues often surface and even when they don't knees tend to get slightly worse. That's not a big problem for those who make a living being fundamentally sound and showing off a solid bball IQ, it is a problem for someone like Stephen Jackson.

I'd do it in a heart beat. Jackson is nasty...it would be for just one season..trade him after.

There is no way you get Capn Jack for that bunch of used socks. No way. Even GS isn't that dumb, despite the fact that they've got a new puppet GM.

I don't know how anyone could possibly compare Posey to SJax.

As for him being a hothead, he's actually been one of the team leaders on that GS team, and has been great. He's no Artest.

I'd love to get SJax here. We need a quality 3-man rotation at the 2/3 spot, which he would give us. His contract is reasonable for his production.

I just don't think we can give GS our castoffs and expect them to send us one of their 2 or 3 best players.

I'd love to see him in green, even at that price, I just don't see it happening with anything we have besides the big 3.

Kill our cap. He is a little too pricey for what we want him for. I like his ability.

I don't see a knucklehead like Captain Jack becoming 6th man Jackson...

That's a major drop in status in a player, and he's not known for being the no distractions type person...

rasheed is not the answer. whoever we sign has to have some years left where they're going to be productive for us

Capt. Jack is one of my favorite players in the league, minus his attitude, but I wouldn't be willing to part with Powe. If GS is really needing to dump him and his salary, then I think we could get him w/o giving up Powe.

No one here in East Bay knows what Nelson is planning. New GM Riley is obviously controlled by Nelson.

General feeling is that no one is safe from being dealt - and Nelson loves to blow things up.

Capt Jack has been an essential part of Warriors. Yet, if Nelson is changing directions, he can be dealt.

Because Nelson is a puzzle, I cant tell you what Nelson would want. GS has to compete - it's not all about shedding salary. He will not trade Capt Jack only for second-stringers.
The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials.
