Doesn't mean we couldn't end up with something useful, but there can't be any
question that falling to 5th is NOT a good thing.

Jim, I'm just coming home from work about an hour after the lottery and this is the FIRST so far positive post.

The way I see it, there's somebody GREAT who's projected lower than 5.

DEJUAN BLAIR.

And if not him, Steph Curry.

And if not him, I'd take a shot at Lawson, Harden, or Evans.

I think the Wizards would be very, very, very, very wise to get BLAIR because he impacted the college game even more than Blake Griffith this past season.

I'd also be happy with Curry as a PG behind Gil.

Cheer up, everybody!
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

Well I guess the best move is to move down and get Blair, although I'm not too happy that we crapped an entire year down the toilet jut to dump a scrub and get a 6'6 power forward. :banghead:

Jeez this team is freakin cursed.

Who's going to want it, though?

Who's going to be there at 5 that isn't going to be there at 10 or 12?

That's why I'm thinking they might decide to keep the pick and instead shop the young guys already on the roster. You take whoever you think is the BPA between Harden, Curry, Evans, etc and then you shop Blatche+Young+Pesh+DeBrick for the best possible deal you can find.

Would CHI give up Hinrich+16 for that package? Maybe if we threw in our second?

I would, we're apparently trying to move into the top 10.

Use that pick and try to flip it for Bosh/Amare.

I hope next year I feel like Boston fans in June of 2008...if you know what i mean

Or even in 1997 when they went from the best chances at 36% of getting Duncan to getting the 3rd pick.

Bottom line, most fans think the lottery is unfair so I do no understand why it's been going on for so long. So rarely do the teams with the worst record actually get the top pick or even top 2. How is this fair.

I couldnt imagine a team in the NFL who just missed the post season(like NE) getting the top pick! The draft is meant for teams that are horrible, to get better.. at least that's how the order should go. It doesnt promise everything, but in a year with a guy like Griffen, to means alot!

The veteran whiners who've never accomplished anything will at least get what they want (that being said, who the hell can we trade a fifth for? Who will give a damn about that pick) if we can somehow pawn off this crap pick.

I THINK THIS COULD BE A BLESSING IN DISGUISE.

PICK DEJUAN BLAIR and KEEP THE PICK.

DeJuan Blair is the next Michael Sweetney. Struggles with his weight and ballooned to 300+ at one point while at Pitt. He'll measure out at 6'6" and he dominated college by big-boying people. At 6'6" that's not gonna work in the NBA. Seen the kid play dozens of times. He was great in the Big East, but so was Luke Harangody. I just can't see Blair, all 6'6" of him, succeeding at power forward in the NBA. His game is predicated on strength, power, and size (width, not height). All that will be negated in the League.

No, the Wiz would be KEEPING our pick and trading Blatche+Young+Pech+Stevenson for Hinrich+16.

Well, the lottery is over. CCJ has a "What to do with the 5th pick?" thread so let's take the discussion there. That way we don't have too many threads with the same conversation.

Return to Washington Wizards
