Rubio Instead of Griffin?
Rumor is the Clips might prefer Rubio to Griffin. So, what do you see the chances are that they either (A) simply pick Rubio #1; or (2) swap picks with either Memphis or OKC and then take Rubio?
If the Clips end up taking Griffin then what? That's a big logjam at the 4/5 with him, Randolph, Kaman, Camby and Jordan. Who would the team try to trade first?

Re: Rubio Instead of Griffin?

"Clearly, we're taking Blake Griffin," Clippers General Manager and Coach Mike Dunleavy said in a telephone interview from Barcelona, Spain.
"This guy is the No. 1 pick. We're extremely excited. He's the guy."
LA Times
"After spending a lot of time and effort preparing for the possibility that we didn't get the No. 1 pick, this now allows us a lot of clarity to take Blake Griffin," said assistant general manager Neil Olshey. "It puts us at ease for the next six weeks."

ok, assuming this isn't a smokescreen, so who gets traded to make room in the frontcourt for Griffin, then?

Kaman and Camby
There's not much sense to keep Camby and everyone is down on Kaman, right?

Re: Rubio Instead of Griffin?
I'd like to try and move Randolph, but with his contract he would be hard to move. The easiest player to move out of Camby, Kaman, and Randolph is Camby. I personally like Camby and hope that he stays.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

it doesnt make sense to trade your two centers. i think we should explore possibilities to trade kaman and randolph first. package thornton with randolph. or kaman. last year plenty teams were looking for a scoring pf, and there were a lot of rumours about trades for randolph, even when he was believed to be unmovable.

I'm not a Rubio hater but picking him ahead of Griffin would be absurd.

We just want Memphis to get their hopes up, then disappoint them. LOL

People always say Randolph is unmovable, and it's usually people who don't see him play on a day-to-day.
Houston, Orlando, NJ, etc... teams who would take Randolph w/o even a real negotiation!

Don't think twice it is Blake all the way.

Not true
L.A. has a large Hispanic population who will pay to see Rubio.
But I agree, Griffin should be #1.

Why is this even a question? Yeah, Dumbleavy is a joke of a coach, but he did draft ERIC GORDON. Anybody who doesn't pick Blake Griffin should be shot.

I think it is the guy, you see the other inside of the suit #23, tells me it's Griffin all along.

Re: Rubio Instead of Griffin?
OKC fans are so desperate they're floating this stupid, supposed "rumor." Sterling would give away one of his apartment buildings for free before drafting anyone other than Griffin. Griffin is certifiable star pick. You don't even flirt with the idea of giving that up. MAYBE a trade for LeBron James or Dwight Howard would make sense. Other than that it's not even open for discussion.
Every single good team is good because they are built around a star player that THEY drafted.
Playoff teams:
Lakers- Kobe
Denver - Carmelo
Cavs - LeBron
Magic - Howard
Boston - Pierce
Dallas - Nowitzki
Jazz - Williams
Spurs - Duncan, Parker & Ginobli
Bazers - Roy
Rockets - Yao
NO - Paul & West
Sixers - Dalembert & Igoudala
Miami - Wade
Chicago - Gordon & Rose
Atlanta - Josh Smith
Detroit - Prince
Now look at Sacramento, Milwaukee, Indiana, NY, NJ, Washington, GSW, Phoenix and the Clippers. Those teams got their respective best player or two (or 3 or 4) through trades or free agency. And despite a payroll larger than the national debt, the Knicks have been that way for ages - and have sucked for just as long. Last time they were good they had Patrick Ewing (who they drafted).
Yeah there's been exceptions in the past. But it's not the norm. And teams this past decade that were good at one point from players they didn't draft ended up back in the lottery a year or two later. Golden State, Washington, Seattle and the Clippers come to mind.
The Lakers, Orlando and Cleveland will be in the playoffs and probable contenders for as long as their stars stick around. So with Blake Griffin, the Clippers have a chance to be that kind of team. I'm very excited, and anyone who thinks we should get Rubio because we already have big men is insane.
