Who Do Grizzlies Take At #2?
Do the Grizzlies take Rubio or trade down? You have Conley, who played well at the end of the year. And I've also heard rumors that the team might want to move Mayo to PG eventually. So is Rubio the right fit?
Any chance they trade down? Or take someone like Thabeet instead of Rubio?

I'm Really not sure who we are going to pick at this point. Trading down is always a possibility because a bunch of teams want Rubio. If we did trade down i dont think it would be for Thabeet because we already have Marc Gasol at center, so i hope it would be for Jordan Hill. With that said it will be very interesting to see what we do with the #2 pick.

For the love of god don't trade down or pick another player you can't let Rubio slip past you. You either pick him or try to trade up with the Clips but do NOT trade down!!!

Re: Who Do Grizzlies Take At #2?
Slyk's correct. The only move the Grizz will make with #2 is if either Griffin becomes available or in a blockbuster deal that lands a proven 4. Chris Wallace (Grizz GM) and Lionel Hollins (Grizz Head Coach) are getting on a plane tomorrow to fly to Spain to meet and watch Rubio play. The Grizz will have no problem whatsoever taking Rubio and are very pleased with the pick.

Re: Who Do Grizzlies Take At #2?
I dont think we should trade the pick. and i dont think it is a bad idea to have the combo conley&rubio at the PG. Having gasol 2.0 in the roster may help Rubio to land in Grizzland. So we need now to get a good PF, thats all.
But a trade only should be aviable for a proven young star.

What would it take for the Hawks to trade for the 2nd pick?

Definitely an interesting offer. However, I'd think the Kings would be apt to take Jennings and keep Thompson.

Conley didn't thrive until he was the full time starter. I don't see Rubio and Conley hitting the court together. Not enough minutes for both. The Grizz need another guard with size to play along side Rubio and Mayo IMO. Hinrich is an example of what I'm thinking along the lines of - or even Tyreke Evans.

David Lee
Nate Robinson
#8 pick
for
Rubio
Darko
filler
Knicks are desperate for a superstar point! If the Grizz need a PF then the Knicks can draft Jordan Hil at #8 or Earl Clark who can play both forward positions. If the grizz want to move Mayo to PG then the Knicks can draft Tyreke Evans/Derozan/Harden/Henderson for you. David lee is a good player but we don't have the money to pay him fairly.

Damn 4 No's and a FAIL! LOL you guys weren't as hard on the Brandan Wright proposed deal from the GSW fan.
I know you guys said no but I was wondering what do you think of James Harden? He more than held his own against OJ Mayo in college and skillwise he is pretty close. He averaged 22ppg on 70% fg shooting in 3 games when he was matched up against Mayo. I think his ceiling is 20ppg all-star which suprised me when you dismissed my trade proposal, so does that mean you don't think he will fall to #8 or you just don't think he will be that special?
Let's say in the unlikely scenario that the Harden falls would you consider Harden + Lee for Rubio? play Mayo at PG and Harden at SG. Grizz would have two extremely skilled 20ppg scorers who play cerebral and pick their spots.
And on another note: are you guys seriously going to re-sign Rudy Gay for big money? His shot selection is atrocious.

Re: Who Do Grizzlies Take At #2?
Lee would have to be signed for the Grizz to even consider this. He balked last year when approached with this possibility (which could have landed the Knicks OJ). Additionally, if the Grizz thought Lee had warmed up to the idea of signing long term with Memphis, they could just sign him to a sheet. It'd be worth the game of chicken with Walsh IMO.
Bottom line is that the Grizz have the opportunity to draft a guy that is potentially a special player. Harden (for example) has the opportunity to be nice/solid - but nobody's speculating that he has star potential.
Shot selection aside, Heisley really likes Rudy. Chances are he'll get paid - not maxxed, but well paid.

Re: Who Do Grizzlies Take At #2?
Rubio!
He will put people in the stands.
He broke his hand and still played @ 17 yrs. old in the olympics.
He can finish with both hands. He's been labeled as the Spanish Pistol Pete for years now. And, compared to John Stockton, by pro scouts!
This draft had been considered by many "experts" to be the Rubio draft, at least untill Blake started blowing up.
The last time I was on the Griz page here was after I got a promotion 2 yrs. ago and moved here from Akron Ohio, and some of you gave me some great advice about the area and where to live. (Thanks)
This is the 1st time since I came down here that I can get anyone to talk about the pro team, not the Tigers! This almost reminds me of when Cleveland won the LBJ lottery.
I didn't scream quite as loud as when my hometeam got lucky that year, but, I still scared the crap out of my dogs when they moved up last night!
Great day for the Grizzlies, I just hope they get Rubio, if not, Blake.

Re: Who Do Grizzlies Take At #2?
Rubio!
The injury is concerning but I do expect us to keep Conley aboard at least for this year so that Rubio can adjust. We also need to sign a veteran point guard along the lines of an Anthony Carter/Johnson just to provide some guidance and mentor this young guy.
What Rubio brings to the table is a team winning mentality that our organization has not seen with previous picks. Sure, Conley won at Ohio St.. But, going in, we all knew that he had some serious flaws in his game- namely his lack of perimeter shooting. Rubio still has some work to do on his jumper, but his vision brings unmatched promise imo. Not only will he put fans in the seats alongside Mayo and Gay, I actually believe that the Grizz can start winning again. We do have some young parts to work with and I believe that Rubio is the glue that can finally bring them together and prevent too many outside jumpers from Mayo and Gay. The problem has been ball distribution and Rubio fills that void.

We already have two guys who pu 20ppg. Our problem is that we don“t have the guy to put the ball on their hands and we play a lazy defense. Rubio fill the two voids.

David Lee is a master of empty stats, plays no D, and is going to be paid - definitely not the lynchpin of a successful trade.
