Would you trade Love for Thabeet

Post#1 » by the_bruce » Wed May 20, 2009 4:52 pm

OKC will draft Thabeet. I'm not interested in such a swap but he's the clear cut #3 for them, and they might not even be interested in that sort of swap. I like love more but what does everyone else think. Vote for which you would rather have.

Love = keep love
Thabeet = You would rather have thabeet

Love (this doesn't need to be debated), OKC would have to offer us something else if they wanted Love and Westbrook together.

to even consider it, that something else would have to be jeff green and that won't happen.

First, I don't think Thabeet is clear cut choice at 3 for OKC. They haven't had the greatest luck drafting centers, but more importantly, Harden is THE perfect SG for their Team and is much more of a sure thing. Secondly, like everyone else has said, Green would have to be included. Going up 4 spots in this draft isn't worth that much. There are serious questions about everyone not named Griffin.

Clippers - Griffin
Grizzles - Rubio (conley will be used to get a PF)
OKC - Harden (Thabeet is a possibility, but I think they will go for the sure thing)
Kings - Jennings (They have Hawes and Thompson and PG is a much bigger hole)
Wizards - Thabeet (some team will trade up to get Thabeast here...maybe us)
Twolves - DeRozan (again prototypical size and elite athleticism...swing for the fences)

Having bad luck in the past doesn't mean anything. The Thunder tried trading for a Tyson Chandler, but opted out of the trade after doubts about his health, so it shows what their priorities are.

Maybe Thabeet and another lottery pick to start the conversation.

I am probably bigger on Thabeet then most, but couldn't justify trading Love for Thabeet straight up. Vote is for Love.

Whoever voted Thabeet at this point is crazy. We just don't know right now. So many big men in past drafts in the top 3 have ended up being busts.

Now in three years if Thabeet is dominating the game, I'll eat my words, but at this point it's exactly as 4ho5ive says. Love, and it isn't close.

Shot blocking is not a clear sign of defensive talent. I think Love has an amazingly higher BBIQ and is younger. As he gets in better shape he will improve his help defense. I think he is a much better prospect than Thebeast.

but beast would be a great 3rd big.

As much as I hate the defensive front court of Al/Love, I would not trade Love for Thabeet straight up. I'm not sold on Thabeet at all, and Love has shown to be a good player so far.
