Re: We'll take Conley...
I think a fair deal is Mike Conley Jr & Marko Jaric for Steve Blake, Travis Outlaw, the rights to Petteri Koponen, #24 and 3M of SPAM.
Blazers take on a terrible contract but get their PG of the future.
Memphis doesnt guarantee Blake's deal. So, they deal around 11M worth of contracts and add only Outlaw (3.6M) & #24 (~.9M). A overall gain of 6.5M more in cap wiggle room. They also get a player they have like for a while in Travis and another 1st rounder.

Just my 2 cents.
I think my post in one of the other draft related threads has gone a bit unnoticed.
I had a trade idea that has Sergio and Outlaw going to Memphis.

First of all, congrats on getting the second pick. I would draft Rubio but if you like Conley, I have a trade idea.
Would you agree on a deal based around this:
MEM trades: Buckner, #2
MEM gets: Outlaw, Sergio, #5, maybe one of our 2nd rounders or a future 1st rounder
You get Outlaw, who would be a great 6th man for your team, and Sergio, who would make a good back-up for Conley. Sergio obviously has his defensive flaws, but as I see it, your team needs a distributing PG like Sergio, who can set up his teammates. He's been frustrated here in Portland, but going to a new team should give him new motivation to work on his game. And having Gasol on the team certainly won't hurt his motivation and progress. Drafting Hill (#5) would give you a good PF. Gasol/Hill/Gay/Mayo/Conley/Outlaw is a good core to build around and as I said Sergio would also be a good fit for you.
Obviously we don't have the #5 pick (WAS has it), but that's just part of a trade. I wanted to have some feedback from your fan base.
Thoughts?

Some things:
I like Conley.
Every one of those pieces is available from Portland's point of view. And we'd also take on Jaric' contract.
But giving up Blake, Outlaw, #24, 3million, Koponen (i don't care about him tbh) AND taking on Jaric' contract is a bit much IMO.
Think about it:
Would you give up
- fringe starter/great backup PG
- 6th man of the year candidate
- #24
- overseas scrub (probably, not sure though)
- 3 Mill
- and take on Jaric' contract
for a fringe starter, who is young and talented though, but has only shown one good half of a season
???
I mean, for the first half of the season, Blake was clearly better.

Re: We'll take Conley...
yeah, it is definitely overpaying. But at the same times, the Blazers can afford it, and a consolidation move is badly needed.
I'd definitely support Blake, Outlaw & 1st for Conley, filler
Conley/Bayless
Roy/Rudy
Batum/Webster
Aldridge/ Frye?
Oden/Przybilla

Here's another thought - just suggesting:
Conley, Darrell Arthur and the #35
For
Outlaw, Webster and the #24

This is the kind of trade I want Memphis to make if/when they take Rubio. This deal gives us depth at both SG and SF, both of which we desperately need, and another late 1st round pick. I would take Arthur off the deal, though, and try to get Portland to take on Jaric before I made a deal like this.

Re: We'll take Conley...
Well, first of all, I hope to God the Grizzlies draft Rubio. They got the best player in the last draft, so I'm sure management is smart enough to do the right thing.
Next, there are several good veteren PFs available this summer. I'd look at picking up one of Lee, Varejao, Milsap or Anderson. Don't nickel and dime here. Pay what you need to to get the one you really want.
Then I would trade Conley to Portland, who covets him greatly. I think realistically the max you will get is this trade:
Grizzlies:
Jaric - why not get rid of his contract to help make up for that one expensive free agent PF you get above.
Conley - has to go so that Rubio can be given the keys to the team.
Blazers:
Outlaw - he is instant offense off the bench and can backup the 3 and the 4.
Sergio - I think you should take him not Blake because he will get along great with Rubio (as he did with Ruby in Portland) and he is kinda like Rubio Lite Lite Lite... He will be a decent backup for Rubio who will be capable of doing many of the same things as Rubio (in other words, their styles are very similar, even if Sergio is the lesser player).
#24 Draft Pick - Maybe go crazy and take a chance on a raw big like Mullens here.
3 Million in cash - Always love cash.
Other than signing a free agent PF and making the trade above to strengthen your bench, I don't think you do any other major changes. Just shake and bake in the oven until you get in the playoffs for 5 straight years.
In any case, good luck! I can't wait to watch Mayo and Rubio. That will probably be the best backcourt in the NBA for 10 straight years.

I could be wrong, but i dont think the blazers are looking to move Martell this summer. He's on a great contract and i think he could give us some good scoring punch and spread the floor for the big guys down low this coming season. im guessing martell will be back in the starting lineup soon. also, if were bringing in conley, it would be nice to send a pg back out so we dont end up with a 4 man logjam there.
Trout, Serg (or Blake), #24 for Conley and Arthur?

Re: We'll take Conley...
If y'all decided on Rubio and wanted to trade Conley, would taking Jaric's contract off your hands, sending you all expiring contracts back in return, plus the 19th overall pick be enough?
We could send Acie Law, Mo Evans and Speedy Claxton, all expirings, to you. Claxton's contract is insured, so you'd only pay 20% of it, Evans is a good backup 2/3 and Acie Law was the 11th overall pick the same year Conley came up. He has potential but is being grossly misused here.

As much as the Grizz, I'm sure, would like to shed themselves of "Mr. Lima's" contract, I think Conley has more value than that.

If Memphis does indeed tak Rubio, which I think they should certainly do, I really do like the idea of this deal...
Webster, Outlaw, #24 & 3M for Conley & Arthur.
If I am Memphis, I follow this up by signing Paul Millsap to a deal starting at 8M and sign a cheap, defensive orinted backup PG like Ronnie Price. That still leaves them with #24, #27 & #35.
PG- Ricky Rubio/Ronnie Price/Marko Lima
SG- OJ Mayo/Martell Webster
SF- Rudy Gay/Martell Webster/Travis Outlaw
PF- Paul Millsap/Travis Outlaw
C- Marc Gasol/Darko Millicic/Iranian Guy
Hell of a young team IMO.

I'd prefer to send Outlaw and keep Webster and send one of Blake or Sergio as Mem could use a backup PG. If it was a deal breaker I'd do it the original way. We should have enough capspace to go after a solid SF - maybe Turk?

Grizzlies could really use Blake if they got Rubio. He gives them a great veteran backup PG, who hits his shots and doesn't turn it over. Sergio is a better fit styles-wise, but he is Rubio lite and it's always better to have two different types of PGs IMO.

It will best for the Grizz to draft Rubio and then asses which of Conley is their future at PG. Problem with Rubio is, he already said that he wants to play somewhere else. Distraction is not good for any sports team.

Again - link the quote where Rubio said that.
