Mayo is pretty expensive when you consider the team is still weighed down by Jaric and Buckner contracts which last until 2011. The other issue is he hasn’t been a good fit with the Rudy Gay. Ironically, Foye would seem to be a better fit in Memphis than in Minnesota due to his superior playmaking and rebounding abilities (his rebounding numbers would actually be much higher if Love, Miller, and Jefferson weren’t cleaning the glass on a nightly basis). We have had the same record with Memphis two years in a row, yet we were plagued with injuries all last season. Yes I think Mayo is a better athlete (although the Jaric and Buckner contracts make Mayo a pretty expensive player), but Mayo is not the type of player who can be added to any team and be expected to make the players better. Teams need to build around Mayo, because it won’t work the other way around.
