Trade Martin for a PG?

Post#1 » by $mooth » Thu May 21, 2009 3:38 am

so if we do not make any trades in the draft and stay at #4 i can see us taking harden because he will be the bpa.
now we can have martin and harden...but same scenario as thompson and griffin.
i know martin is our star player but if we traded him for a franchise pg and then had harden who has a higher cieling than martin we could have a great back court for years to come.
a scenario i could think of is martin for devin harris.
maybe martin and #31 for deng and hinrich.
a scenario i like the most is:
martin
for
calderon and #9

toronto needs a sg badly.
we need a pg badly.

i dont think the salary matches so fillers would have to be thrown in but that is the base deal.

so then we have a solid starting pg and two top ten picks.
then we draft:
harden
jennings
blair
bpa

that would be a great imo if that happened
then we would run with:
hawes
thompson
noc
harden
calderon
with: jennings, blair, cisco, greene and everyone else off the bench

thoughts?
and what would be another scenario you could see happening when trading martin in exchange for a pg?
dont you miss when the kings vs. lakers meant somethin...

Wouldn't mind Harris at all.

Harris
Williams
#11

For
Martin
Thompson or hawes
23
31

Idk
Pick harden at 4. And bpa with nets pick (James Johnson, teague)

That trade is bad for Sacramento. (Calderon for Martin principle).

Agreed, I love calderon, but not for kmart. For kmart we need a great player and jose is just good

Harden doesn't have more potential than Kev. He's mainly a scorer, he's 6'3'' and he's limited athletically. He plays a lot like Mitch Richmond did, but you are saying he has better potential than a guy who just scored 25 PPG on a bad ankle, and his main strength is scoring. Sorry.

We're not trading Kevin for any current PG in the league. There just isn't a situation available. NJ has no reason to be looking to move Harris, and I frankly just don't want Calderon. Nobody else really matches up value-wise.

don't think NJ would do that trade, but if they gave us Harris and 11?? Yeah I'd do that trade.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.

Value wise Harris>>>Martin. There's a reason that we're the ones proposing the trades. A PG of that caliber is much harder to come by.

Yep. BEFORE he was traded to Dallas, we could have had Harris for Martin quite easily, but now, in terms of trade value, it would take Martin + more for Harris...something like, our 23rd pick + expiring for Harris + bad contract.

But...

Harris
Harden
Noci
Thompson
Hawes

Not bad...

would rather look to move noc or hawes then k-mart...maybe some picks.

harris would be an ideal fit for a rebuilding kings team.

No no, I wasn't saying we could get Harris from the Nets. I was saying if we traded Martin for Harris BEFORE he was traded to the Nets, then the Kings could have probably traded for him for Martin + late pick from Dallas.

Just wondering. I see a bunch of Bulls stuff, and some ideas coming from way left field, and I become a little suspicious. To me it looks like trolling.

Don't worry about trolling...we got it ;)

The sig on the other hand....it needs work :) More purple! I need to start making more of those things.

Anyhow as much as I'm not big on Martin I think he's good enough to trade for a legit player. I would trade him for Devin Harris, but other than that...I don't know. I don't think Harris is even available or the Nets would like the above trade.
KANGZZZZZ!
