The Pick 2 game (#5 + #6)

Post#1 » by the_bruce » Thu May 21, 2009 5:34 am

So I'm having Wizards pick mania. I know you are all still heartbroken over rubio, and while we dont have the Wiz pick yet. I still want to know what combo you'd take of the listed combos.

We assume that Griffin Rubio Thabeet and Jennigs are gone.

Unless it looks like Holiday and Maynor are shooting up the draft boards, I would say that we would be better of just keeping Miller and the cap space and using the 6th on DeRozan or Evans and the 18th on Holiday or Maynor.

J2J's off-season of Love...

-Hire shrink as the capologist
-Hire me as the talent evaluator
-Do the trade for #5(Miller and assets for #5 and filler)
-Draft Harden, Evans, Mullens, and Casspi(left over-seas)
-Teach Kevin Love how to be like Stretch Armstrong as well as blow fire
-Turn Jefferson into the 6million dollar man
-Hire Thibedeau as the coach and put in the 3-2 trap as our main defense.
-Sit back and let the good times roll
-Collect trophy at end of season

YET is the key word. I say we hire Somali pirates to just take the pick for us.

No Evans. He can't shoot. This would be especially bad if you believe Brewer, who also can't shoot, is the SF of the future.

I think Evans-Harden works if we keep Mike Miller (and he remembers that he's a shooter), or we do that sign & trade for Marvin Williams. As long as Evans has some guys(Miller/Williams, Harden, Foye, Gomes, Yoga Power K-Love) who can knock down jump shots that he can dish to, he can slash to his heart's content, and Jefferson is also close to the hoop if he gets doubled in the paint.

what if I'm not willing to commit to Brewer being the SF of the future, can I have Evans

That said, I might prefer that we just go Harden/DeRozan at the 6th, Holliday/Lawson/Maynor (preferably Holliday) at 18 and use the rest of our assets to trade for young(er) vets. I'd be a fan of getting Marvin Williams no matter what; there's still a place for Brewer as a defensive stopper(I hope) when we let Carney go.

Yes.

I'll take Evans and Harden/Curry/DeRozen.

Evans, Harden, and Brewer would be a blast on the perimeter. Evans gets to the cup and finishes well, Harden can shoot, and Brewer can concentrate his energy on the defensive end. Kevlar is extending his game out a bit. I likey.

Also if we get #5, there's no way we still have Mike Miller. Foye's shot will return, and he'd be the perfect combo guard 6th man behind Evans and Harden, both of whom have enough PG skill to make that the triangle of awesomeness. Find a 7 foot shot blocker and we go with an 8 man rotation. Two triangles plus Brewer and Gomes. I'm in love.

Voted Evans/Derozan. Wouldn't be surprised if Harden was picked and Thabeet was available. Then Evans/Thabeet and life is GGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT!!!

I voted Evans/Derozan also but I'd be happy with Harden/Evans or Thabeet/Evans (but that seems unlikely).

I want Harden the most for sure. What about Jennings and Harden?
I love Jennings' potential. He looks like he would be what Telfair was supposed to be..except 2 inches taller. Then we should try to trade 18/28 for a rotational 7 footer/shotblocker, or future protected 1sts

Jrue is going to be a stud defender.

I like each player, but I wonder if either player will be able to create their own shot in the NBA. For that reason, I like Jennings and Derozan/Harden or Jrue and Derozan/Evans. That way we'll have one player that can create his own shot.

Are people warming up to Jrue? Earlier in the year only Watters and I held that torch.
