Hinrich-Thomas for Booze?

DraftExpress is reporting that:

The Chicago Bulls are reportedly heavily shopping Tyrus Thomas around the league, trying to see what kind of value they can get for him after the solid season he’s coming off of. It appears that they don’t see him fitting into their long-term plans as he’s too similar to Joakim Noah, and they aren’t interested in giving him a long-term deal that would put them over the luxury tax. It’s possible the Bulls look to package Thomas and Hinrich together and land a big time power forward.

That might be an enticing offer for the Jazz to work a sign and trade. Thomas is clearly a cheaper (albeit lesser) PF than Booze, which would help them keep Millsap who I get the feeling they prefer. Hinrich has been on the Jazz's radar forever and could play a similar role that Derek Fisher played where he acts as backup PG and SG when Deron is on the court. He is a good defender and can hit the 3, good passing ability.

That intrigues me.

I would be down with that. I like TT as a player. I am not so sure about him and Sap handling all the pf duties though.

Tyrus could be a great pickup for us, but it sounds like he has a bad work ethic (jogs down the floor instead of running, slow learner, etc.). It might just be fans overreacting, but maybe there is something to it?

I like that line-up quite a bit. Could get difficult juggling minutes we had that same problem this year.

As long as this replaces Boozer's 20 and 10, I'll be happy. I haven't been able to watch much of Hinrich play, how consistent is he? Would he solve our issues at the 2?

Jazz do it in a second. BUT Boozer opts out then he signs with anyone he wants and Jazz get nothing.

I seem to remember Hinrich hustling pretty hard in the few Chicago games I watched and came up with some great hustle plays. I liked what I saw from what I remember. Thomas seemed to be a decent PF. I just worry about replacing the offensive production we would suffer from losing Boozer. I don't think the defense could be any worse, you would have to just sit down to get out-defended by Booz. Sounds like a decent trade.

Here's my one question. Is Hinrich really just like Fisher? I mean, the Fisher at the 2 experiment didn't work out that great, so why would we want to do that again? I thought Hinrich was more established as a 2 than 1, and it was vice versa with Fisher. Just a thought.

Wouldn't be a decent trade. Would be an amazing one. In fact I can't imagine right now a better way to part ways with Boozer. If KOC thinks for a second that alleged Chicago interest in Boozer is true, he should go for it.

Hinrich is 6'3 can play the 1 and 2 positions. He did a decent job guarding Paul Pierce in the playoffs this year. He can also knock down jumpshots (something Brewer cant do)

So from the other side of this prospective trade, how much does Chicago want Boozer? I know they dumped thier starting "PF" Gooden and seem to be pretty light on the PF front right now, especially if they deal Thomas.

Also, what's the story on both their contracts?

I like this trade. Hinrich has a pretty big contract for the next 3 years but would be an excellent backup to Deron and also be able to play alongside him for a few minutes. Smart player, good shooter, a lot of effort and intangibles on both ends of the floor. TT is not exactly a "Sloan type of player" right now but could improve his attitude towards the game playing with the Jazz and be a long-term substitute for AK. If he doesn't work out, his contract is up soon anyway.

Bulls Fan here,

Capt Kirk is on a big descending contract he has 3 yrs left on a 5 yr 47 mill deal. He will actually make less money next yr than he did this yr. Sloan is just what TT needs to get him in gear. I think if any coach can improve his BBall IQ it is Sloan. Kirk can play the 1 or 2, is a gritty defender and can knock down open shots as well as off the dribble. Kirk is a more athletic Hornecek. This would be a win win for both clubs. Booz plays no defnese but instead of Okur at the center who may be less of a defender he has has Noah. The Bulls need a Bull down low

TT will provide shot blocking and if motivated can defend the 3 and the 4.

I'm good with this deal

I thought Hinrich would be a great fit for the Jazz when he was coming out of college, and I would love to get him now. He would be the final piece of an exceptional 3 guard rotation and give us the extra toughness and leadership we need down the stretch of games. However, in trading Booze we lose the post presence upon which the Jazz O revolves. Millsap is a stud, but he'll never replace what Boozer gives us offensively. I would rather trade Millsap in this deal as Tyrus is another undersized, offensively unpolished 4. Any interest in a Millsap & CJ for Hinrich & Thomas deal?

So you trade your all-star 20-10 power forward for two backups? I don't think so. Unless they throw in a couple first round draft picks or someone else half decent.
