Hawks 4 options at PG

Post#1 » by tbhawksfan » Thu May 21, 2009 10:10 pm

Keep Bibby and Law

Trade Bibby, get vet PG and Keep Law

Keep Bibby, draft future PG and trade Law

Trade bibby and Law and replace both through draft and/or trade

I like the bring in a vet idea. Sessions or Felton work for me. Don't draft a PG; It would be a waaste while Woody's here. I vote option #2:

Sessions or Felton and Law.

Not to be critical of your logic, but a team that would be interested in Bibby would likely not possess a PG that we could acquire suitable to run our team. So in essence a decision to sign & trade Bibby and acquire a replacement via trade most likely requires 2 separate trades. The targets you suggest would require sign & trades from their teams due to lack of cap room here. As such an expiring contract like Speedy would not be prized by them. What other asset(s) to you trade to get this replacement PG? Are you able to sign and trade Bibby to replace the player(s) you likely have to sign and trade to get one of your PG targets?

Also, you left out a 5th PG option: sign and start Flip Murray at the PG position. While not a true point guard, he can handle the ball and was often the Hawks best penetrator during games last season. He is better defensively than Bibby. I don't suggest it because I think it is a great idea, but just a realistic possibility because of it's cost effectiveness (especially if paired with the drafting of a PG).

Then trade speedy marvin Horford for Bosh and sign Shannon Brown

Shannon Brown to run the team? While he has played well for Los Angeles in the playoffs, I've not seen any indication that he could run a team as a starting PG.
