LA Times Jackson and Bynum not talking to each other

Post#1 » by Tommy Trojan » Sat May 23, 2009 7:12 pm

It was in today's LA Times, that Bynum is very unhappy about how many minutes he is getting and Jackson is unhappy with Bynum's defense. And continues to talk about Bynum's lack of D was the reason he did not play the fouth quarter of game 2. I mean Bynum has got to be kidding himself if he thinks he has been playing the way we need him to play.

But, it was nice to know that at the end of the article Bynum said he will play much better the next game.

So if he is upset about Bynum's defense, then what must Jackson think about Fisher's defense. Something just doesn't feel right.

Has any reporter asked Phil why he continues to play Fisher. Under the Bynum zen logic he should bench Fisher's no D arse.

Phils coaching has been as bad as Bynums D, cut the Zen crap and use basketball common sense.

Exactly how does Odom's defense been better than Bynum? The man he guards scores seemingly at will and we give up a ton of offensive rebounds. Furthermore, Odom contributes absolutely nothing on offense other than dribbling for 12 seconds without knowing what to do with the ball. At least Bynum can finish a couple of plays.

bad timing for a soap opera. the lakers (and coaches) should shut up, use their heads and play hard for the full 48 minutes

LO is a very underrated help defender, he should be out there. Our whole problem is our scheme, Bynum is right, it's been the problem all year, we over help on defense, that's why K-Mart and their bigs are running through our guys, there are too many seams in our defense. There is only one player we should be helping out on when he has the ball, that's Anthony, but the problem is that once we set our defense, we are already over helping whoever has the ball.

Thank you KB..... I''m glad you are one of a few people who know what your talking about. If bynum makes a mistake, phil takes him out with the quickness. Derek Fisher has been getting burned in every game in the playoffs, but because his a vet...Phils plays 30mins know matter how crappy he plays.

The only person who should shut up is Bynum. The coach is there for a reason, and he decides who and how many minutes the player will play. Now if the coach is doing a bad job then i'm sure it'sthen up to the GM to replace him and get someone to do the job better.

You don't throw a tantrum and ask for more minutes. These players are employees just like anyone else and they need to respect management/coaches

simple as that

Game 3 of the WCF is not the time to enter into a rift with your head coach... Bynum needs to stop pouting and start defending and boarding my god your 7 ft tall get a rebound. Phil also needs to sit fisher in place of farmar... how many times can we say this

Also take on Sasha and Walton while sending us Kwame and it's a deal.

What about taking back just one of them and we send you a resigned McDyess (allowing you to keep your MLE for another player)?

Fish plays because he tries on every play...
Farmar doesn't play more because his arrogance causes him to force shots and stops running the offense. He thinks he's Chris Paul... If he'd think Triangle first and always try on D, he'd play more.

The only reason Bynum has gotten the minutes he has is because Odom is missing every Defensive rotation and Phil is benching him. If Odom wasn't screwing up, and Phil wasn't trying to bring him in with Birdman, Bynum wouldn't even play... That's how bad he's been...

Bynum is late on every offensive and defensive rotation. He's got size over everyone he's faced but Yao and yet he never boxes out anyone. He doesn't go after rebounds and rarely jumps on either end of the floor. Even at less that 100% he should be intimidating the hell out of everyone he's faced.

Add to that hefty contract and the Smush Parker attitude, and I think the Bynum train is just about to leave Union Station...

Man-up, shut-up, and play some damn basketball, Andrew. F***ing EARN it.

OK. I guess you can take Walton and we'll figure out some other way to get rid of Sasha.

You call your guys and I'll call mine.

guess i didn't really state that correctly, my coaches comment wasn't really meant for them shutting up but was supposed to target the 'using their head' portion. imo, phil's done a pretty questionable job this offseason.

i still believe a big part of the problem might be the chemistry of team in terms of fitting bynum back into the equation.

this is bad news. we do not need this at this time. the lakers have to make a decision. either we bring in a coach who knows how to handle young talent,or we bring in more vets.
Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!

Has Phil not noticed how Bynum's defense is usually sparked by a powerful play on the offensive end?

Of course he has. Cut the grumpy old man crap and stupid principles. This is not the time to teach, this is the time to get the young center excited — 26 and 13 kind of excited, like in January.

I agree EE, but truly this is nothing really. After 8 years of the 34 and 8 drama this is child's play.

Bynum really tries hard. He tries do to his best and yes, I'm also wondering why Phil doesn't give him enough playing time. He had a good block in game 3, but I didn't see him play a lot in the 4th. I still see Fisher in the 4th Quarter. If Bynum needs playing time to be confident, We should have Lamar in PG because Fisher is garbage.

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
