A few off-season scenarios..

Post#1 » by NashtyNas » Sat May 23, 2009 6:04 pm

Well the board is dead, but if you feel like locking this, go right ahead Tastic. Just wanted to put some scenarios out there.. :)

Scenario 1:

Trade 1: Jason Richardson + Goran + 48th for Kirk Hinrich + Tim Thomas + 26th
Trade 2: Shaq for Tyson + Posey
Draft: 14th - Terrence Williams
26th - Tyler Hansbrough
57th - Jeff Pendergraph

We would have:

Nash/Hinrich/Barbosa
Williams/Barbosa/Hinrich
Posey/Dudley/Williams
Stoudemire/Hansbrough/Amundson
Chandler/Thomas/Amundson

Send Pendergraph + Lopez + Tucker to D-League. Maybe pickup a 3rd string PG in the draft by getting another 2nd or keeping our 48th if its unnecessary in the Hinrich trade. Seems like a pretty deep and great team to me. We improve our defense tremendously, especially with the Posey/Chandler additions, where now we have a lock down perimeter defender, a solid shot blocker, and a big who can defend the P&R VERY well. Williams will also be a terrific defender, and Hinrich can shut down any point guard in the league. We already know NO would do that trade, and as for Chicago, I'm 99% sure they would likely do it because they really don't need Hinrich, and gauranteed don't want to sign Ben to the contract he will want, therefore they will be saving money and get a much more complete player to play the SG position. Also, Vinny had a say in drafting Dragic, and he would be there backup Point guard right away.

Scenario 2:
Trade 1: Shaq for Collison/Watson/Kristic
Trade 2: JRich + Tucker + 14th for Kapono/Humphries/O'Bryant/Douby/9th
Draft:
9th - Demar Derozan
48th - Dionte Christmas
57th - Robert Dozier

Nash/Watson/Dragic
Derozan/Barbosa/Douby
Dudley/Kapono/Christmas
Stoudemire/Humphries/Amundson
Kristic/Collison/O'Bryant

OKC doesnt need Watson or Collison, especially if they draft Thabeet who can use a guy like Shaq to mentor him even if it's just for 1 season. They do lose Kristic, but they can pickup any young shooting big man like Jason Smith for a first rounder, or get Tyler Hansbrough through the draft. I think they would think about this deal very hard. For Toronto, if Harden is off the board, the 9th spot isn't that great anyways, and J-Rich is the offensive threat they need from the guard spot. They can still pick up someone like T-Will to play the SF, and they dump Kapono who they dont want. I think they would do this deal in a heartbeat. We improve our pointguard position, get quite a bit younger, and still can compete with any one as long as Derozan pans out :P

Almost the only thing I don't like about scenario #1 is the selection of Hansbrough.

Scenario #2 ... meh...

Where'd Hill go?

We let hill walk in scenario one, probably need to sign him in the 2nd scenario. Just watch, all you Hansbrough haters will be proven wrong..

I enjoy most of your ideas.

Letting Hill walk is not one of them. It is, in fact, a very stupid idea.

Look at the roster in the first scenario. I really dont think we need Hill with Posey, who is just as good or better on defense, and has 3 point range. Dudley can provide us with the driving and hustle, and we STILL have Williams/Tucker to play the 3. It would be redundant to get another 3, unless we plan to play Hill or Posey as backup 4 and send whoever we pick with the 26th to the D-League.

I don't really think we need Posey with Hill.

I like Posey and wouldn't mind getting him back in a trade (though his contract is largely unwarranted), but he is in no way an improvement over Hill. Grant may lack the 3pt range, but he more than makes up for it with his jumper, slashing ability, floor management, leadership and contract.

Hill >>>>>>>> Posey.

End of story.

Hill is better than Posey and cheaper.
Hinrich sucks for the contract he has. He is about the same level of Blake.

Scenario #2 in a heart beat. Two decent bigs, and Derozan for a big contract + pick in weak draft, and Shaq's expiring...but are teams still allowed to have 15 players on their roster?

Scenario #1--
Trade 1: Jason Richardson + Goran + 48th for Kirk Hinrich + Tim Thomas + 26th
Trade 2: Shaq for Tyson + Posey
Draft: 14th - Terrence Williams
26th - Tyler Hansbrough <--I don't mind this pick if he really falls that far. He should be worth the chance.
57th - Jeff Pendergraph

We would have:

Nash/Hinrich/Barbosa
Williams/Barbosa/Hinrich
Posey/Dudley/Williams <--As mentioned before why do we not have Hill signed? He is a great defender at a very good price. Hill is my starter at the 3 position. Then bring in Posey to stretch the defense and make some 3's
Stoudemire/Hansbrough/Amundson
Chandler/Thomas/Amundson

Scenario #2--

Trade 1: Shaq for Collison/Watson/Kristic eh whatever don't like or dislike this trade.
Trade 2: JRich + Tucker + 14th for Kapono/Humphries/O'Bryant/Douby/9th
Draft:
9th - Demar Derozan I really don't see Demar falling that far. I think he will go #5 or #6 no later.
48th - Dionte Christmas
57th - Robert Dozier

Nash/Watson/Dragic
Derozan/Barbosa/DoubyIf Derozan does go down to #9 then by all means I have him starting over Barbs.
Dudley/Kapono/Christmas <--Again where is Hill others mentioned it. But Hill is definitely on my roster.
Stoudemire/Humphries/Amundson
Kristic/Collison/O'Bryant

How about?

Scenario #1 from me

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... eId=qcr62r

Scenario #2 where we blow the team up

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... eId=peocru

Scenario #3 I like this idea

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... eId=qrae9e
http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=5085127

I also like this idea!

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... eId=obp2u8

There are a bunch of ideas out there. I am for keeping Amare. And to be totally honest. I want to see what this lineup can do with a full year under their belts being motivated.

i would first trade nash to toronto for jose calderon and chris bosh.
than i´d do something like shaq for b-davis and marcus camby.
after all that went down i´d do something like j-rich & tucker for hinrich / noah....

we would start over with

calderon / hinrich / 14th pick
b-davis / barbosa / hinrich
ghill / dudley
ama´re / noah
bosh / camby / ama´re / lopez

did i forgot something?? oh, i forgot i am dreaming.....

Props to the great one

I have one scenario. TRADE SHAQ to NO for Chandler, Butler and Daniels. Sarver SAVES 10 million next year, resign Nash and Stat, draft Earl Clark and play some defense, say bye to Swift and Tucker.

Nash 35/Dragic 23/Daniels who cares
JRich 28/LB 26/Butler who cares
Hill 37/Clark 21Dud 24
Amare 26/Lou 26/Lopez 22
Chandler 26/Lopez 22

When we need defense (run offense through Amare and Hill, alas Hill and Shaq at Orlando, remember that game?)

Dragic 6'4
Hill 6'8
Clark 6'10
Amare 6'10 (when he wants to)
Chandler 7'1

All "long" outstanding athletes!!

Yes I understand Hill is a necessity, but I still think with Posey we wouldn't sign him.

Another scenario:

Suns trade Shaq + 14th for Richard Jefferson/Andrew Bogut/10th+2010 First
Suns trade JRICH for Deshawn Stevenson+Javaris Crittenton+Brendan Haywood + 33rd pick
Draft: Earl Clark + Danny Green

Nash/Crittenton/Dragic
Stevenson/Barbosa/Green
Jefferson/Hill/Dudley
Stoudemire/Clark/Amundson
Bogut/Haywood/Amundson

FOR THE MIN, why would you NOT want Hill round? when you'd be far better with him rather than some scrub FA we might need to sign in the season because of injury...

Could you guys please make the trades plausible and possible. There are only a few teams that will make the Shaq deal. NO and Dallas. Amare could be a possiblity for every team, even the Clippers, but I think it would be a big mistake. Again,Nash WANTS a PnR defender and to be competitive. Just like the warden said in Cool Hand Luke......."If he wants it, heeeee gets it...."

Bogut is a slug!! Don't want him. I'll take okur as a dream situation if we are just manufacturing trades though. He'd be perfect. How could we make that happen in a sign and trade.

O'Neal + J.Rich for Okur + Kirilenko + Harpring?

Utah can then surround Deron Williams when O'Neal expires.

Return to Phoenix Suns
