Hedo
I think Petrie's going to make a hard run at him this offseason. This guy is a playmaker, he makes his teammates better, can shoot it and defend. His age is a concern but we're going to have to add some vets to this young team at some point. He's a great fit next to Kmart, basically a PG in a SFs body. What do you think is a fair offer for him? I think I read the most we can offer a FA this offseason is something like 5/55, is that correct? Would Hedo be worth it or is that overpaying?

Unless Petrie's also going to be trading Nocioni or Garcia, I don't see that happening. Because if not, you've got 3 guys that can start all playing the same position

Hedo's an upgrade over both of those guys and brings a different skillset. Also, Noc(SF/PF) and Garcia(PG/SG/SF) can play more than 1 position. And if you have a team with Garcia and Noc off the bench thats a pretty strong bench IMO, both bring a lot of energy and both can light you up with 3s.
But that is a lot of money committed to those 3, and Orlando fans did seem interested in Nocioni earlier in the season. A Nocioni for Hedo S&T would be a good trade for us, but im pretty sure Orlando has concers about the tax, I doubt they'd pay lux tax to get Noc even though he's a great fit there.

B2B is right. We simply have too much money invested in the 3 spot that it would be ludicrous to go out and pay hedo. Personally, I think this is the best he'll ever be, and its only downhill from here, but if we ended up s&t for him, I wouldn't be too upset. I love me some hedo.

And the same general idea is going to apply to basically any 2 or 3 player including Marvin Williams as well.

Re: Hedo
No it wouldnt be ludicrous. Play Noc some minutes at PF and play Cisco mostly at SG. It's fine.

We can't offer 5/55
We are only around 6 million under the cap (assuming we keep/sign both our 1st round picks)

Re: Hedo
If we want to clear some more cap space and have a real target for this summer, a deal will be available if we're willing take on some more future salary (if we signed a player to a big contract, we wouldn't have future cap space anyway). Something like Kenny Thomas for Nick Collison would work.

Re: Hedo
I could see it, but it would be a mistake. He's a very good player but not worth how much it'd take to get him here, if we even have enough $$$ to sign him outright anyway, which we probably don't.

Re: Hedo
Well B2B brings up another great point. Marvin Williams. I would take marvin 30/30 times over Hedo based on pure potential. Both players are probably going to get similar money, and i would MUCH rather invest that in Marvin than hedo. But for starters, we need to lose either noc or garcia because we just can't put that much money into the three.
Ideally, I would do a S&T Nocioni, Greene and filler for Williams.

Re: Hedo
Are we talking about the same Marvin Williams who sat out the playoffs with a sprained wrist? Would Lebron not have played if he had a sprained wrist? In what world is Marvin Williams tougher than Nocioni or Hedo. His game may be pretty but this team has enough stat stuffers, Hedo ain't pretty!! He is a tough sob. We some toughness at the 3 with softness and youth at the other 4 positions. We can unload Noc if we get Hedo and we can trade KT to the Magic if he signs and is traded since it will be about $10mil. Yes he is old but this team could use one key vet (Noc is that guy now but Hedo can hit clutch shots while Noc does not) who will lead in practice like BJax did with the guards. You can never underestimate clutch with a young team (see Denver and Orlando).

Marvin Williams isnt a good fit on this team IMO. He doesn't make his teammates better and you cant run your offense thru him like you can do with Hedo. We dont have that pure PG to get him good looks consistently, and he isnt capable of getting them himself. Hedo can be the main ballhandler and creator, and even better if we found a good PG who could shoot and pass next to him.If we cant make a move for Rubio with the #4 and did get Hedo I'd try to do a deal centered around #4/Udrih to Toronto for #9/Calderon. We would look like
Hawes
Thompson
Hedo
Martin
Calderon
with Garcia and Nocioni off the bench. Thats a team with a lot of skill and 3 point shooting. Needs a defensive big off the bench, and we'd still have a few draft picks to work with.

Re: Hedo
I like the idea of going after him, but I think signing him for 5 years would be a huge waste of money for this team, unless we make other moves to compete.

Re: Hedo
^^It would have to be 5 years to be a competitive offer.
And I don't think that would be too bad. He doesn't have a ton of wear on his body, due to being a bench player for most of his career, and I think he won't decline all that much throughout the contract.
Also, we need to do something to bring in some fans right now. That's a main reason why Rubio would be so huge for this franchise.

Rubio drops to 4.
Hedo signs here with our 8 million cap space. 5 years ~50 million.
BJ Mullens is nabbed at 23
Jermaine Taylor at #31
Sign undrafted LaVance Fields
C: Hawes, Mullens
PF:JT, Nocioni Thomas
SF: Hedo, Greene
SG: Martin, Garcia, Taylor
PG: Rubio, Beno, LaVance Fields

Re: Hedo
I don't know, that team really doesn't do much for me. I like Hedo, but I don't think he is going to be the type of player that does a whole heck of a lot to bring us out of the cellar. Nor do I think he'd be a good fit with Rubio at point. Hedo should be used for his PG skills and I don't think a PG like Rubio is going to work very well playing off of Hedo, Hawes, AND JT.

I have the same concern, I think a PG who can hit the 3 could be a better fit. It will open things up more for Hawes and JT on the inside, open up lanes for Hedo and Martin. If Hedo was signed I'd really like the KIngs to go after Calderon. He's a great shooter, always makes the right decisions and doesn't turn the ball over. He's not an elite playmaker but he gets the ball where his scorers like it, and Hedo will help creating offense, along with our bigs and the high post offense. #4/Udrih/Thomas for #9/Calderon/Ukic/Humphries works. Kings take Curry at 9 and Mullens at 23.
Hawes/Mullens
Thompson/Nocioni/Humphries
Hedo/Garcia/Greene
Martin/Garcia/Curry
Calderon/Curry/Ukic
