He's played most of his pro career under the age of 18, in the ACB and International Competition... and he's held his own. This is a once-in-a-lifetime prospect for Grizzlies; you don't often get the chance to draft such a high-potential player, especially at #2, but hey, it happens; #1 picks aren't always the best. Give him a good learning environment, be careful with his workout regime, hope he doesn't get any freak injuries (Livingston), and you have a potential hall-of-fame PG. He is a better prospect than Rose was, coming into the league, if you're looking at the pure skills of a point guard. I'd give CP the *slight* edge because he was a better/stronger athlete coming into the NBA, but Rubio's court vision is better than any of these guys.

I don't get it. Memphis fans, anybody who comes in with Beasley (especially the guy who wanted #2 AND Rudy Gay), David Lee (lol), Kapono (wtf was that?) trade scenarios needs to be banned from your forum, because they are morons.

Hell, I would even consider trading a Mayo/Conley/Darko package for a Amare if Phoenix was interested. You got the 27th and 35th picks too; you can probably get another guard with one of those. Gay would probably vastly improve with that move too, since he'll have a PG feeding him easy baskets all day, instead of one trying to average 30 ppg.

Tell me for how long people have been considering Ricky Rubio a top 2 player this year in the draft? You can be aware of a player as long as you want, but it's different when a player goes from being considered a 2nd round pick, to suddenly jumping up to #2 in the draft.

The guy turns the ball over way too much, has a poor shot, does not have an NBA ready body, does not want to play in a small market, and has a euroleague contract that needs to be bought out. How does that make him a #2 pick?

Ricky Rubio was never considered a 2nd round pick. Where the hell did you get that from? As soon as he became a prospect, he became an elite prospect.

What it seems is that he is the one that is talking about Rubio without knowing even who he is -.-

Well, for roughly two years, this has been the "Ricky Rubio draft," but I don't follow international basketball like some on this site do - so it may have been longer than that. Also, the same source that indicated that Rubio wasn't interested in Memphis - draft express - followed up the initial article with a second which said Rubio's stance was not based on the size of the market, rather by his opportunity to play. The second article said that Rubio was concerned about Conley and Mayo already being on the Grizz roster, as well as Westbrook being on the Thunder roster.

Maybe after he put up 51 points against players his own age. Or maybe the fact that the has been a professional since age 13 (I think it was). Those may have put him on the radar. For years now, there have been murmurs of him as the number 1 pick. Never was he considered a second rounder. I don't know where you get your information (Oh, wait yeah I do- your own head!). Here's to putting you in your place.

Buckner is essentially an expiring deal that has value. $1 mill this year and $1 mill next to the cap on a $2 million buyout. No favor in taking him. Not enough there.

Still think the best deal is a 3 way with Miami and Toronto. Basically it's a heavy rumor that Miami and us are gonig to swap Beasley/Blount/Wright/our 1st for Bosh. If he turns down the extension that'll be the best deal available. But it'd fit much better if we pulled you guys in for a 3 way, where we get Rubio and you get Beasley. Rubio fits much better with our Euroness and Colangelo's PG obsession. You guys get your franchise PF... surely you'd take Beasley over Thabeet. But then again taking Thabeet over Rubio is just as crazy, lol
