Denver Nuggets vs. LA Lakers Game 5

Series tied at 2-2. 7:00 MT, ESPN.

Shady, feel free to post your game thread image, and I'll edit it into this post.

As relieved as I was for the Nuggets to even the series last night, I was really not that happy after the game. The combination of the ESPN announcers trouncing the Nuggets and Phil Jackson's comments about officiating and dirty play after the game all but GUARANTEE an extremly LA-sided whistle in Game 5. I'm quite confident I'll need to vomit during the game.

I feel like I'm setting Carrie up for failure, but we'll see what she can do.

Well Mizz Underwood was in Denver to perform a special tribute concert, A Celebration of Valor, for Medal of Honor recipients on Tuesday, September 16, at the Pepsi Center. Before the show she was mingling amongst a crowd (at the Pepsi Center I think) when she told a reporter:

"I spend a lot of time in Colorado. I have a friend with a house in Breckenridge, so I get out here a lot."

Damn right.

Setting her up for failure? Heck, we need to pull out all of the stoppers and her record speaks for itself

We'll see if she's any match for the officiating. Hopefully she is.

In this series, after 3 games the free throws favored the Lakers 104-103.

In game 3 the lakers went to the line 45 times and the Nuggets went to the line 31 times, a difference of 14.

In game 4, the Nuggets went to the line 49 times and the Lakers went to the line 35 times, a difference of 14.

Add games 3 and 4 up and the free throws are 80 for the Nuggets and 80 for the Lakers. That is pretty close to even isn't it?

Take away the plus 11 Denver got in a game 1 loss and this series has been pretty evenly called on both ends of the floor. The Nuggets have a +13 advantage in free throw attempts after 4 games, which equates to a difference of only 3 per game. 152-139

Phil Jackson has a history of pulling stunts like these to try and gain an extra advantage for his team/s. Personally, I take it as a compliment because it tells me that he is concerned about us. If we continue to stay aggressive, and continue attacking the rim, it should/could backfire on him. Hopefully it does.

With a body like that how can she fail...

Anyone see the interview with K-mart where he called out D.Jones and said "Yo Tay, you a dirty player now. Welcome!" Thought it was pretty hilarious.

Really hope K-mart is a beast down low again in game 5 and JR plays the distributor/scorer role again at such a high level. His passing ability is so underrated when he is actually passing and not just launching bombs.

Loved seeing Balkman in there too, even though his only chance at scoring was blocked pretty viciously. Rather see him then AC throwing the ball away. Game 5 Win, Lets go Nuggets!

I did. That was pretty funny. Now that we know he isn't going to get suspended, I suppose there are 4-6 fouls on Kobe Bryant that don't have to be committed by anybody worth a ****. I'm sure he'll rack them up within the first three or four minutes.

For the sake of argument:

Chuck just made the point on the pregame of the game tonight that whoever wins Game 5 of the WCF will win the series. Is that a decent assumption? How many times have we seen the 5/6/7 games going to each home team? I'm not sure the Nuggets can lose tomorrow, even if they turn around and win at home, and win a deciding Game 7 in LA. That being said, LA has yet to really win going away at all. Game 2 was really the only game they controlled for a decent chunk of the game. If tomorrow is another nail biter, it might just mean LA doesn't have ability to blow the Nuggets out in this series, which would at the very least not make this series as predictable in LA as the HOU/LA series was.

The Nuggets appear to be the stronger team and may win game 5 but I think they could win games 6 and 7 anyway. The Lakers will continue to tire. I think that Barkley sees the Nuggets winning game 5, so his prediction is based on how well the Nuggets continue to play at this point. However, I think the Lakers will respond in game 5 so we will may see a better team effort than in game 4 from them. I still see the Nuggets winning the series if Carmelo is well and J.R. starts hitting his shots and that will be in games 5 and 6.
Canned in Denver.

"What's this interuption on the court....a fan has vomited onto the referee's whistle. This will take a while to sort out and even then the referee may not want to use it." - ESPN courtside annouce.

SVG: "This is a disgrace to the sport of basketball! That fan should be ejected for life. When fans hurl stuff onto the court that is just asking for a player to get hurt."

Apparently Phil Jackson got fined for complaining about the officiating:

Busy, busy day for Stu Jackson, the NBA's punishment czar who is no relation to Lakers coach Phil Jackson. Jackson fined Jackson and the Lakers $25,000 each for the coach's critical comments about the officiating in Game 4. Jackson also downgraded Andrew Bynum's flagrant-1 foul against Denver's Chris Andersen to a simple personal foul. He then assessed a flagrant-1 foul against the Nuggets' Dahntay Jones for tripping Kobe Bryant. Publicly, the Lakers were mum on the subject when asked if the Nuggets had crossed the line with their physical play. Privately, they were incensed. Game 5 is Wednesday.

How ironic for Phil to blame the refs, when they won him game 1 and 3.

For the Lakers and Laker fans to complain about officiating is

Laker's complaining about someone being dirty...that's a joke in itself...

http://www.topix.com/basketball-players ... ake-notice

Stern just doesn't have the "guts"...He would rather kiss Kobe's backside.

It's so funny how Laker fans or Kobe fans will tell people to quit crying when he does something, but when someone breaths on him... they should be kicked out of the league... Yes, it was a dirty play by Dahntay... so what... not like Princess Kobe's never done ANYTHING like that before... he's perfect.

I think I figured out what the NBA is trying to do. From a previous post on realgm:

HEY FELLAS

END OF 3RD QTR AND ENTIRE 4TH QTR IS WHEN DAVID STERN, THE NBA AND REFS "FIX" THE GAME FOR A KOBE VS. LEBRON MATCHUP.

it happened to denver in game 1 and 3

How is the NBA "fixing" a Lebron-Kobe matchup?

Give 60% of the calls to Magic/Nuggs in the first 3 quarters and 90% to the LAL/Cavs end of the 3rd and entire 4th quarter (esp. 3 mins left)

Yo guys:

Magic fan here. Think David Stern is losing sleep at night at the prospect of a Nuggets/Magic Finals? This was supposed to be a waltz to the Finals for Cleveland and L.A. and both our squads are giving them their money's worth. Pulling for you guys 1,000% tomorrow night. Good luck.

Conspiracy theories? You guys really aren't paying attention, to history, or the present. It's media driven the LAL/CLE final, don't blame the NBA and dont blame the Lakers or the Cavs. It's going to be LAL V ORL.

I gotta stop respoding to all this nonsense the trail of nonscence is getting bigger and bigger avbout the refs and conspiracy theories it's driving me beyond mad so many of you just don't understand or are just casual or newer fans of the game. Do any of you do any research whatsoever? LAL V ORL Final, and I think ORL has a huge advantage, they are playing the best bball right now.
