Gas left in the tank? It is baffling at how ignorant people are when it comes to Marbury when they aren't actually followers of him.

He is still stronger than most PG in the NBA and still fast. You are basing your assessment off of a year where he didn't play for a year, came back and played 20ish games off the bench?

Oh and he has done more for kids than 98% of the players in the NBA, and he didn't do it to be shown on NBA Cares commercials.

Wizard fans tools. People think he doesn't have the ability to be a starter anymore because he was coming off the bench last year. Even though he was coming off the bench because he joined the team with less than 30 games left in the season.

i'm not the only one basing my assessment on that. the boston celtics - who apparently are ready to cut him - are also. and also, how damning was my assessment? questionable at best. i have doubts. i'm not raving and ranting, waving my arms around threatening a hunger strike/becoming a magic fan if we sign him. i'm just being a cautious shopper.

i made the same point about marbury's philanthropic work less than 6 months ago when the knicks released him. his shoe deal, him working out with NY youth, etc. i think starbury gets a lot more flak than he deserves but right now, from a basketball standpoint, i've got concerns especially if we're going deeper into lux tax.

And what exactly are you basing your assessment off of...??? A couple years ago when he was legit??? Dude has fallen off, and if his last seasons are any indication of what is to come (on and off the court), I definitely wouldn't want him on our team...

I would only if he could accept being the 3rd point guard while Gil is healthy. Critt would be the first point guard off the bench. If Gil has to be out for an extended time, I would start Marbury over Critt, giving Critt more time to develop from the bench.

Against smaller backcourts Marbury could play with Arenas or Critt. If he is cheap, I think he is an upgrade over Mike James. He might also make Stevenson expendable.

Under Flip Saunders, this might just be crazy enough to work!

I truly hope that isn't the plan. Marbury has always put up decent assist numbers but he's far from a pass-first point guard or floor leader, not to mention that we'd be below average offensively at every position except center. That lineup would be a disaster on almost every level.

If he comes a bargain, there's no reason as to why I wouldn't like the move. Certainly an upgrade over Mike James at whatver type of contract he's signed on to.

Marbury does look like a changed man and I've grown to like him as a person and even rooted for him to do well with Boston. That said, he looked like a shell of his former self. I'm sure the year off impacted his game but there was no lift or explosiveness in his play. He's not the old Starbury, in demeanor or talent. Even so, he's still an upgrade to what we have behind Gil. I know some like to acknowledge Crittenton as a good young player, but IMO being young is about the only thing he's got going for him.

If the Wizards release or trade Mike James, I wouldn't mind Marbury for the minimum as Steph would be an upgrade over James. Marbury would probably be decent insurance on the cheap in case Gil gets banged up.

I, for one, am glad that one veteran player is wanting to come to the Wiz and is trying hard to do so. I hope this is carries on to other veterans, especially those that can help the team. I think folks are recognizing that this team, coach, and GM have a "win now" attitude, as opposed to rebuilding or growing some young talent/team. Now as far as Starburst goes, I dont think he will help this team...I just cant see how. He's lost a step or two and that makes him pretty ineffective at his position. We may get one or two good games out of him, but I dont think thats whats needed...we need someone who is consistent and can be relied upon to use his poise, ability, and leadership as a veteran off the bench.

That's pretty much the same positive I got out of this: 'Hey cool, some players are actually lobbying to be on the squad'. On the other hand, in the 'take it with a grain of salt' category: it's Marbury. He's got a tattoo on the side of his head. And takes cell phone calls while being interviewed on live TV, while casually insulting his wife, etc. So. Re-phrase: 'Hey a total nutjob wants to join the squad... Uh, cool?'

Changed man or not, Marbury sucked in Boston. Awful. Putrid. Stinky. Forget about him.

Picky picky picky!

Besides, if the team keeps it's 1st & 2nd picks, that's I think 16 guaranteed contracts on a 15 man rooster. It probably isn't worth it to add to the lux tax in order to add an awful putrid stinky player.

And yet in still, that makes him better than Mike James and comparable to Javaris Crittenton.

Scary as it sounds, both Crittenton and James were better than Marbury last season.

Agreed. If the choice is Marbury or James, I'm picking James. If the choice is Marbury, James, or developing Critt - I'm going to develop Critt.

If we pick up Marbury...The Wizards are definitely trying to lose a fan for a year or two. I seriously hate that guy! We have enough guards as it is..no point in picking up this bum.

As a Marbury fanboy, I hope to god he doesn't go to an awful team like the wizard. They are going nowhere fast.

Just wanted to try a post to see if this truly insanely stupid thread had been locked yet.

If it takes. Guess not

SM. Are you kidding me? My Great Uncle just died of cancer. I don't need to see that again.

Come on people. I guess the next thing I will see is someone posting how the Skins should get Meshawn.
