Lmao why would Memphis trade the better player and the higher pick?
I know that Gay and Mayo don't fit well together but there's better deals than that out there, I love Kevin and I want Rubio just as bad as anyone but this trade is a little one sided, although I think that it makes sense for Memphis and they'd be headed in the right direction.

John Forbes Nash might approve of that trade, but I doubt Memphis does.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

I don't think the value is that far off. If Love was in this draft he'd be in the discussion for the #2 pick, and I could see Memphis potentially taking him due to fit.

So it becomes #6 vs Gay? We'd probably have to add in a hair more, like the #18 possibly.

Even still, I don't do it. We need guys with some emotion, some passion, some spunk! Love has spunk! Gay is anti-spunk. Wait... Nevermind...

The only trade involving those two should be one that brings Gay-Love together.

I agree. Love is better than Gay, but this isnt enough value IMO. They are better off trying for Thompson/#4.

Seems like the odds are always going to be against Gay-Love

Love has a prop 8 contract clause.

I think we'd probably have to give a little more up, but I actually think it's pretty close to fair value. I'll give you that Love is better than Gay, but is it enough to move up from 6 to 2? Probably not, but it's close, IMO.

This is a trade I've seen suggested before from non-MIN/MEM posters, which generally suggests some legitimacy to the swap.

#6 < #2, but Love's value > Gay's value, since Gay's older and needs to get paid next year, and Love's locked into the rookie contract.

I'd give that a long look.

So throw in Smith as a backup PF and call it a day.

I gotta admit, that is a nice looking core for Memphis. Value matching or not, I think I like that MEM team a lot better than the Minny lineup.

If we were going to pair Rubio and Gay, I'd want Love around to start the fast breaks with some beautiful outlet passes. Give them the big Black Hole instead. :D :D

Grizz won't do that unless we get some bad contracts in return for some expirings as well...

Unless we were clearly getting the better deal I wouldn't trade Love. The unknown of Rubio, and Gay to an extent, puts me off.
