Scal&T.Allen possible trades?

Scal & TA for Posey works.

We don't add Posey's salary because we dump Scal and TA to make room for him. And we already know how he's the perfect fit for us.

If we have Posey on this team next year, and ORL faces CLE before the ECF then we matchup extremely well against ORL...

If they could bring back Antoine Walker, they certainly could consider this. KG's injury might have saved management from looking pretty bad right now by not having Posey and overusing Pierce.
We keep hearing about a Golden State Warrior - Jamal Crawford being available, but maybe we should be looking at another Warrior - Steven Jackson. Scal, TA and Pruitt gets the deal done salarywise - after that maybe a #1 pick.
WHY GOLDEN STATE DOES IT - In terms of talent as mentioned they probably would rather get rid of Crawford. But take a close look at the Warrior's salary structure - it isn't good. The Warriors are committed to 5 more years of Monta Ellis $11 million per,5 more years Biedrins $9 million per, more years Maggette $10 million per and Crawford only has two more years $20 million. Jackson is getting about $8.5 million per for 4 more years. Jackson will be making over $10 million when he is 35 as he just turned 31. The Warriors have been rumored to be interested in Andre Miller who will not be cheap. Could they get Miller, keep Ellis and Maggette as their starting SG/SF with Azubuike and TA off the bench. As much as TA may be wrong for the Celtics, he could finally "get it" somewhere else in addition to the value of his expiring contract. Jackson while very good is an older, expensive luxury on a team built around Ellis.
WHY BOSTON DOES IT - I expect there will be people on both sides of this. There will be people who say there is no chance of getting Jackson and others with the same concern of paying a 35 year old player $10 million. Also the Celtics re-sign Ray Allen.
The Celtics got the ultimate scare about the window of opportunity with KG's injury. Worrying about future cap space for future teams has no logic for a team that wisely traded Al Jefferson and got it's first championship in over 20 years. Jackson is the right fit - not someone who has other skills we are trying to make fit. He can play excellent defense, is long at 6'8" and can be a slightly taller, longer defender version of Posey, but much more. Jackson is a bonefide scorer. Where Posey could hit clutch 3's, Jackson is more than capable of being the leading scorer on the Celtics in a playoff game. His demeanor is very much like Perkins - a nice nasty streak and someone who knows how to be a key contributor on a winning team (Spurs.) This more rejuvenates Pierce and Allen and keeps them from wearing down. KG will motivate him as well.
Sign McDyess with the MLE, get a Tyrone Lue type with the LLE, and a Scot Pollard type to absorb 5-15 minutes at center. The Cavs will use Ben Wallace's expiring $14 million contract for an All Star player, Orlando will be getting back Jameer Nelson. It is time to be bold.

RE: Jamal Crawford. I've always been a fan of Crawford as a "talent." Offensively he is supremely skilled and deadly from distance. His range is crazy, he has a quick release, and he can handle the basketball very well. He's really the type of offensive player who could allow Pierce and Ray to actually rest going forward because too many times in the past couple seasons Ray and Paul have been forced to play extra minutes to facilitate the offense AND score. This needs to be addressed and Crawford can help the team go in this direction.

As far as his defense goes he's basically terrible. But some of that has to do with his mentality and effort, which are generally poor when it comes to digging in and playing on the defensive end. But it's not like Eddie House, who's also a chucker, is exactly Bruce Bowen off the bench for the Celtics. I'd not object to a trade where Crawford is coming to Boston. He'd be a big improvement offensively and would be more or less status quo defensively compared to House who's currently the primary 1-2 backup.

The Celtics two biggest NEEDS, per Doc Rivers, are backup center and backup small forward.

So, let's address them.

I'm still hoping Grant Hill simply comes over for the LLE. Since he has the same agent as Ray Allen, and already played for Doc Rivers, this is not as far fetched as it sounds.

Now, for Center, there are 4 decent options.

Rasheed Wallace - has said he wants starting salary of $8 million. Hello, Dallas or San Antonio.

Joe Smith - seems to have deal in place to re-sign with Cleveland for full MLE.

Antonio McDyess - gave up $8 million to leave Denver. Rumored to have deal in place to be overpaid for his age to stay in Detroit.

Rasho Nesterovic - Free Agent. Larry Bird loves Cs. Would he take Scal + Tony Allen, via S&T, even if he had to reroute them? Say, Tony Allen to Oklahoma City for some guy they draft with their #25 pick this year; and Scal to wherever for a 2nd round pick? Is this even plausible?

The above S & T not only lets the Celtics save their MLE for someone else, they can pay higher than the MLE, as sully has already pointed out, but dump salary at the same time. Essentially, you are trading Scal + Tony for a full sized backup center with a decent shot out to maybe 17 feet.

And someone else might say make a 5th option for center, The Birdman.

I remember earlier this year Mike saying Crawford is one of the 2 maybe 3 NBA players to have never fouled out of a basketball game... makes sense... it's hard to foul out when you don't play defense.

As crazy as that originally sounds, I think it was just this year that CP3 fouled out of a game.
