Gerald Henderson=BPA
After reviewing the prospects it looks as if Henderson would be the best player available at the #6 pick. I know he is not at a position of need, but we are in no position to pick players by position. His game is much more refined than Evans and Derozan plus he is more athletic than Harden. He only stands about 6'4 but his long arms more than make up for the height. I am not a fan of most Duke players but this one is the player to go with, if we stay at #6.

Maybe the BPA at about 11 or 12...not at 6. He'll be a solid role player at best in the NBA, doesn't really have the makings of a star.

ya, that's true...but Henderson hasn't been even close to the player Wade was in college.

Re: Gerald Henderson=BPA
I tend to agree with you. He is a bit smaller than DeRozan but Hendersons shooting ability and defensive abilities are unmatched when comparing the two. DeRozan may have a higher ceiling because he is not nearly as decorated as a collegiate player like Hendersen was...but I would be fine with Henderson at 6, if we could get another pick around the 10 spot and grab something like evans at 6 and henderson at 10, then great, but I have no problem with him at 6. He is a tremendous slasher, a much better shooter than derozan and evans, and a much better on ball defender than both of them...what is not to like about that?
Lets not forget that Henderson was a big ball of explosive, athletic superstar talent at Duke where he was basically asked to lock it up inside and play within Coach K's system...not that that is a bad thing, by any means, but imagine Henderson at USC with more of a green light to showcase what he can do to the fullest and I think we might be talking a whole lot more about him right now than we are. Just watch the highlights of this guy, unbelievable...and you see a whole lot more highlights of defensive steals, blocks and rebounds than you can find on any of the other guys we are talking about...just a great all around talent that I see getting better and better with the right surrounding...and I think we have those surroundings to offer him (Big Al>Every big man he played with during his tenure at duke lol)

Agreed, Gerald Henderson is the best player available if we're selecting only Duke players.

Wade had a great college career...But being a finalist for ACC Player of the year multiple times is no minor honor...ACC>Conference USA. Just Saying...and like I said before, Henderson was bottled up at Duke in Coach K's system.

I'm probably one of the few who likes Terrance Williams a bit more than Henderson. Even still I wouldn't take either of these guys unless a bunch of other players were off the board.

Yeah, Gerald is a bit of a sleeper. If he learns how nail dowm nba 3s, he'd really help us at the two.
I'd much rather start him than Foye.

After watching Courtney Lee, Dahntay Jones, Pietrus etc I'm really high on these 6'5/6 defensive guards that can hit the three
Henderson may be the bpa

It's kind of a numbers game. If he's 6'4.5+ without shoes he'd be fine. anyone know his actual measurements??? as long as he's not a "McCants 6'4". That was horrible.
Twiz, I agree he's not a top six guy but he is a talented player. I think it's too simplistic to just write him off. He's a more intriguing prospect than Lee or Jones were coming up.

Re: Gerald Henderson=BPA
Henderson's percentages are kind of underwhelming and he doesn't get to the free throw line that much. 45% from the field, 34% from 3 pt, 5.1 FTA's per game. Derozan actually averaged more points per shot.

Re: Gerald Henderson=BPA
He is a role player. Finley athletic wise, but without the scoring mentality or 6'7 frame. He projects very similarly with Jones on the Nuggets. Decent role player, but not a top-10 pick.
BPA at 6? Not even close. If you are going pure talent and not fit
(no order)
Rubio-Griffin-Thabeast-Curry-Harden-Evans-DeRozan-Jennings-Hill-Holiday. And then a handful of debated players.

I think he'd be a solid choice at 28 and could possibly be alright at 18, but not at 6.

I don't think he will be as good as Randy Foye is to be honest. In fact i'm not sure any of the SG's in this years draft class other then Harden and Derozan will actually end up being better then Foye and i'm not trying to say Foye is special either.
I wouldn't mind drafting Henderson to be a backup SG here to Foye who could be put in on tough defensive assignments but I think his best case scenario is a slightly more efficent Tony Allen. He'll go out and give you an honest effort every night and have some big nights against guys who can't stay in front of him or with him on the offensive boards or on the break but i'm not high on his potential as a halfcourt scoring option at all.

I'll jump for joy if we get Henderson at 18. I can't imagine that he'll be there. If we passed on him at 18, I be pissed...unless he ACTUALLY lasted until 28 and we got him there, which is beyond a long shot.

I think he's different than Foye. He's already got a superior mid-range game and defense to Foye. He's also more athletic. Foye is athletic, but Henderson is definitely more athletic.

Henderson is absolutely more athletic I just don't think he has the handle, court vision or shooting range to become a quality starter in the NBA. I think he'll be a rotation player but I don't think he'll have a very big role offensively in a halfcourt setting.
I like the guy but I just don't think his game translates offensively into the pro game, I don't dislike the kid or even the thought of the Wolves drafting him to be Foye's backup. I just think if that happens that we should expect a solid rotation player not a future starter.
