OT - Derrick Rose's high school grades altered

Rose, 20, was one of four Simeon athletes whose grades were boosted for a one-month period after their June 2007 graduation and then changed back after the bogus transcripts had been sent to colleges, according to sources and a report by the CPS inspector general.

Why do I get the feeling this is going to be one of those sitatuations where we see daily updates? Luckily, Rose can't be punished and it's in the past. But this will darken the image of him, if he was involved.

It's an interesting story to most people and Rose is going to have to answer questions about this.

I think most people who enjoy college basketball care about this. I imagine every Illinois basketball fan is pissed off right now, because they lost out on their two big recruits due to scandals. (Eric Gordon & Derrick Rose)

I certainly don't. But a lot of people really get annoyed when something like this happens. When it came out Webber took a large amount of money in college, he was basically hated by a huge group of posters for months. Despite the fact that he was playing for the nations favorite team and earning nothing, while bringing in millions for Michigan.

Not quite the same situation, though. But everything 'dirty' from before the NBA always hit hard on the boards.

It sounds like it could be an unpleasant couple of weeks newswise for Rose. He’d better hope Zambrano keeps pummeling Gatorade coolers to keep his name buried in the news.

I don't want to make too big of a deal about this, but at the same time, this is something that goes on a person's character resume. By itself, it doesn't mean a lot for an NBA player, but if other concerns pop up in the future, this is the type of thing that will be cited as forming a pattern.

lol..he never came across as a Rhodes scholar but was he really that bad in the classroom that they had to doctor high school grades and SAT's..the requirements to get in as an NCAA athlete at Memphis arent exactly very high

Well you have this, his SAT scores, the fact that he pretended to take the SAT instead of the far superior ACT, rumors that VDN had to dumb down his offense because the “team” couldn’t pick it all up…

I don't think it means Derrick is dumb, just means he's a 6'3 point guard with elite athleticism, speed, strength and the ability to breeze by defenders at will and get to wherever he wants to on the court.

Simply put, he's a high school basketball superstar and as expected, players like that don't have much interest in the high school part because they're not going to need it. Stuff like this happens everywhere.

It's a test of character, absolutely. After everyone put so much stock into him doing things the 'right' way and always being honest and up-front, this will be a major blow to his credibility.

I still don't care all that much, though. This has nothing to do with the game of basketball. Who cares what his score was? He's playing ball and earning million through that avenue. He should just turn the blind eye, and focus on his game.

honestly...if his GPA was 2.5-2.8 then there's nothing really wrong with that in terms of minimal intelligence, imo...my GPA was pretty dis heartening (much under 2.5) but i really didnt do work and i damn sure took my ACT...but wow...i wonder if derrick knew much about any of this
