Presti's motto

Post#1 » by Durantist » Mon May 25, 2009 1:43 pm

"Long term success"
This is why I believe that OKC will be contenders for years to come. Presti isn't your ordinary GM, he has a blueprint and he is sticking with it. Unlike Ainge or Kerr, Presti wants to compete and even win title"s" for a long period of time (like the Spurs). Presti's Blueprint:
1.Find your Superstar= Duncan/Durant
2.Complement your Superstar= Parker,Ginobili/Westbrook,Green
3.Role players committed to Defense= Bowen,/Thabo
The only thing missing from this puzzle is INTERIOR defense. Duncan was the anchor for the spurs. So do all of the past Presti moves lead to a Thabeet pickup? I mean its so obvious that Presti is trying his best to build another Spurs type franchise, from the day he chose PJ Carlisimo as the head coach, to his high character Draftees. So when the 2009 draft comes along, I will not be nervous one bit because "In Presti WE trust"

I'm pulling for the success of Thabeet if okc does indeed draft him. Hopefully okc can keep their core together and build chemistry like the spurs(whose core have been together for years).

agreed. Presti seems methodical and calculating. It a good time to be a Thunder fan. I haven't been this excited about our future since Shawn and Gary were tearing it up.

The thing about young teams that are built to compete for a long time like the Blazers is that sure, there's a great feeling of hope among fans that one day the team will be great and maybe win multiple championships, but there's also the large possibility that they never win anything at all. Although their window is small, the Celtics team Ainge crafted has a serious possibility of winning multiple championships. They won one, could've won one this year without Garnett's injury, and have a substantive shot at winning one next season. Even if they don't win another, they still won one, which is simply better than never winning one. After the window is closed, the Celtics can just tank and collect nice draft picks, which would be just behind where the Thunder are right now.
