It is BS, that call was a 3rd strike against Millar AND Bautista. Now all of a sudden he has a high strike zone when Scoots and Bautista were up again too.

There's a reason Lester has 6 called strike outs against us today, and it's not because he's pitching well, the Red Sox have 10 people out on the field for them today. Total and utter BS. I can't watch this game anymore because it reminds me of the last game in Fenway where our hitters couldn't get anything going because the Ump was squeezing our pitcher and giving theirs a wide and high strike zone. It's too obvious so I'm done with this game now.

Ugh. Lester doing his best Kenshin Kawakami impression..Not pleased at all about this. Still haven't hit a single ball into the outfield.

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

More oddities from Andy Fletcher...according to Gameday, all three called balls vs. Lowell were in the zone, with the only called strike missing wide (granted, every one was close). The previous at-bat, the first two pitches were in the zone, also called balls. If he has a dinner date, he's doing it wrong.

Heh, that makes a little more sense. It's MLB.com's Gameday feature, which is a spectacular time-wasting device.

I'm starting to suspect that Brian Wolfe is not good at baseball.

Brian Wolfe is a fat tub of lard.

Haha...how did those pigeons get inside?

That was a bomb right there...come on Jays, only 6 more runs to tie this up.

Terrible offensive showing by the Jays. Didn't even bother staying for the 9th. It's all good though. Can't really complain about taking 2 of 3 from a division rival. Now let's hope this doesn't completely eliminate whatever momentum we had going into the Angels series. Not that it matters since Doc is on the hill next, where he won't be denied a W for the 3rd straight time.

only way that happens is if the offense or bullpen stinks it up..

The Youkilis at-bat:

Sorry, I wasn't using Gameday at first, it looked a lot worse on the ESPN version than the MLB Gameday version, but you could see in other at-bats that there was a terribly inconsistent strikezone. Against Lowell, I think it was, the ump gave the low-and-away corner twice but didn't give a call for a pitch that was like three inches higher and closer to the middle of the plate.

There were other such at-bats, and at-bats for our guys where clear balls were called strikes (I switched to Gameday mid-way and still saw BS calls).

I was sitting out in LF and I was baffled by the amount of called/missed strikes. Like, I thought it was just the perception from sitting at such an angle, but that wouldn't explain the chorus of groans throughout the Dome, throughout the game.

There is a jays blog called "The Mockingbird" that does a lot of stuff with computer strike zone data, and they looked at this game. They agree it was pretty awful.
