Boozer Rumours

Apparently, rising free agent-of-choice Carlos Boozer is telling confidants he's either going to Detroit or New Jersey -- only way the capsized Nets pull that off is by doing a sign-and-trade. Word has it Jersey will have but three assistants next season and all must take pay cuts.

• Although Carlos Boozer could be headed to Detroit in a free-agent deal in July, there's a chance he'll end up going to Toronto in a package for Chris Bosh. The Bulls remain interested in Bosh, but Luol Deng would have to be part of a package going to the Raptors. The Raptors, privately, are acknowledging for the first time that they might need to trade Bosh, rather than risk losing him to free agency in 2010.

Jazz fans - Nets fan here, wanted to understand what it would take to get Boozer in NJ, considering rumors being circulated. Since NJ is over the cap, it would have to be a S&T deal. In a S&T, he would have to opt out, so wouldnt it be better for you guys if he opts out and then you can save $. In a S&T you have to take salary back and Im not really sure what we can give you back that makes it worth taking back salary. Was curious what your thoughts were.

Thanks.

The only way I could see a NJN Sign and trade for Boozer would be with Vince Carter coming back in exchange, and I'm not sure the Jazz would really have that much interest.

Besides Peter Vecsey is a dick and doesnt know **** about what players are going to do. Vecsey is just attempting to say relevant in the news industry at this point in his career. He'd say MJ is coming out of retirement if he thought he could get 5 people to believe him.

wow. take it down a level. Im not defending Vescey, but Boozer was seen by fans in the area with his agent (could mean absoultely nothing). But thanks for not answering the question.

I would be very interested in Vince if we can get rid of CJ Miles in the deal also. NJ would have to throw in some other guy most likely but it doesn't look like you guys have too many players you are going to be super protective of.

NJ has plenty of draft picks (not sure how interested Utah is in them since they have a decent amount of picks themselves), and I could see Boone being a useful role player in Utah... I wouldn't be surprised if Sloan and co. covet Ryan Anderson either...

I do not think that people are realizing the other storyline here. The Jazz could try and pull a sign and trade to get themselves Chris Bosh. Chris Bosh is a logntime good friend of Deron Williams. They workout together in the offseason in Dallas. They had a really noticeably long exchange following the Jazz's victory in Toronto last season. I have been asking for this for the entire season. KOC. Please. Make this happen. I would weep. Weep with excitement and pure joy.

Hmm. Don't really want VC, and the player we do want (the one who has the same name as my ex-girlfriend) has too small a contract.

i would be interested in VC if Sloan wasn't the coach, he is hella underrated and might thrive in a situation where he is not the man.

Lopez, Simmons high pick and parts would work.

Lopez is worth more than Boozer--he is the corner stone of the Nets and I don't see him leaving. I like Racer X's idea, Boozer to New Jersey, Bosh to Utah, young guys/picks/expirings to Toronto.

they would be (Please Use More Appropriate Word) to give up Lopez, he was at worst the 3rd best rookie in a great draft class.

Maybe Toronto would like Yi. Seems like a soft foreign player and Toronto go together like Utah and dirty white players.

A three way with Toronto makes the options basically endless.

Utah and NJ only i could see maybe Simmons, Anderson and pick for Booze

with Toronto included, Ideally, I'd like to see Bosh to Utah, Boozer to NJ, and something like Simmons, Korver and Picks going to toronto.

Dont really have time to figure out details, but i'd like to see Bosh in Utah :)
Bye Bye Sloan, Good Riddance Deron. Hello new Era in Jazz Basketball.

I like the idea of moving Boozer to the East, and there are a lot of players on both Toronto and New Jersey that I am interested in.

Bosh is obviously the top choice, with some of the younger bigs (excluding Lopez who my guess is pretty much untouchable right now) being in that next tear of good players.

I like VC a lot, but I worry about his age and the fact that he won't be around for a long time.

For a long time? I think he got 2-3 years left. He contract will expire and probably he will retire or sign for LLE or something like that IMO.

Could a Jazz fan explain to me: if/when Boozer opts out, why would Utah want to do a sign and trade taking back a large chunk of money when they could instead use the money to retain Millsap and Brewer next year?

Because the Jazz are in "win-now" mode. Simply letting Boozer walk without getting anything back in return would be a major setback in their championship aspirations. I would welcome the trade for Bosh. He only has one more year on his contract and could help the Jazz salary cap wise. If Bosh were to work out in Utah as a player, he could re-sign with the team in 2010 with a reasonable contract because AK's contract would come off the books that season.
