Yeesh. Thanks to the offense for picking up the bullpen with some late runs. I swear, the Mariners pitchers really need to figure out how to get guys out when they have them 0-2, 1-2. It's embarrassing.

Man, I'm really loving the acquisition of Jose Vidro during the offseason. The guy can flat out rake. He's good from both sides of the plate, and can hit to all sides of the field.

He's good in the 3rd spot.

And great job by Putz these last two games. You could tell he was a bit fatigued in the 9th inning, but was able to pull through for us.

4 straight wins. I'm lovin it.

I think the guy you described is actually a perfect #2 hitter, not a #3. Vidro does a good job getting on base but he's not really driving in many runs. I think it's better for the Vidro and the team if they move him up a spot in the lineup...allows him to be more productive and plays to Vidro's strengths.

I'd love nothing more than to see Weaver dominate tonight, but I just can't envision it yet...

He's someone I would consider batting #3. He leads the team in RBI, and he's hitting .324 with runners on base (but curiously just .250 with RISP).

Vidro meanwhile is hitting only .250 with runners on base and .200 with RISP. And I'd consider him the greater double play threat of the two.

i agree.

beltre is producing and vidro is getting on base, i think its the obvious choice.

Weaver is a lesson in what a breaking ball looks like when you hang it. He looks terrible...everything he throws is hittable. That's five straight hits, and I expect five more to follow.

Pull him from the rotation already. I hate to admit that he's a mistake this early in the season but after four starts he has yet to show anything positive. He's a rally killer.

Holy ****. He lasted only 1/3 inning, 6 ER, 7 hits, 1 BB, 0 K, and 29 pitches. And there's inherited baserunners that might make it worse...

He has to be done. At least he only has a one year deal. It is an automatic loss every time he pitches.

In watching baseball for over 40 years I've never seen a pitcher pitch this bad. I cant even explain how bad this guy is he must be cut and now!

I missed the Weaver disaster for tonight...I just went to ESPN.com, saw that Kansas City had scored 8 runs and realized, "ah, tonight is Weaver night." What a f---ing embarrassment that the M's signed this guy. I don't know who I'm more embarrassed for...Weaver, the fans, Bavasi, Weaver's teammates....so on, so forth.

The sad thing is...it's not like it's just the M's that were pursuing Weaver. This was a guy who had quite a few teams lined up who were trying to bring him in for a decent amount of money.

I have a feeling he gets gets sent to the pen, does nothing, and is eventually cut...and then finds modest success with another team again. He worked well after he was paired with Dave Duncan in St. Louis, and whatever he learned there he seems to have forgotten. He tried turning into a groundball pitcher for the M's, failed, and now is just throwing crap up there and hoping it sticks. I have a feeling he moves on to a place where he goes back to his "strengths" and makes the M's look at the more foolish for not being able to squeeze any value out of him.

The question is do they simply move him to long relief or do they cut him to send a message?

...I also just noticed on another board that a poster indicated that, while Weaver pitched tonight he only had two strikes that missed bats: 1 called strike, and 1 swinging strike. Everything else was either a ball or contact. That's staggering. If he throws something over the strike zone, it's simply going to get hit...no question.
