lebron getting ripped by talk radio

Post#1 » by Alice » Tue Jun 2, 2009 2:57 am

i think it was wrong and immature that lebron couldn't shake hand with the magic then skipped out on his team and the media. but holy cow the talk radio is really ripping him a new one. not sure it right to crucify the kid for one mistake. thoughts?

Most of the discussion I have heard about this on talk radio has been fair to LeBron. Most people (me included) think he was wrong to do what he did but they also give him a break because he has earned enough goodwill to let this one ban incident slide.

It's being overblown and another excuse for a Troll parade on the CAVS board.

Just move on...the Magic are not without their warts either.

I have no idea why people think that Cavs fans would care about this.

Why should we all care?

I'll leave this open, but it has previously been moved to the series thread. It really doesn't need it's on thread.

It's his statement (or e-mail, whatever it was) that is rubbing everyone the wrong way. He deserves to be ripped for that nonsense.

you should care because LeBron is clearly a prima donna. Your media better be walking on egg shells this next year so that when it comes time to turn down that new york contract, he has as many recent good memories as he can remember.

I think it was wrong for him to not shake hands. His excuse was also poor although it's the truth. Sure he's playing for millions and on the highest stage, but what about his fans that are playing in Rec leagues and high school? It sends a bad message to them about sportsmanship.

The thing that gets me is: As liberal as the media is, why are they jumping all over lebron for something that's a "traditional" value such as sportsmanship? When did the media promote such upstanding values? For a trade that constantly twists the truth about politics, gay rights, terrorism, etc, they suddenly condemn a guy for not having good sportsmanship? Talk about hypocrites!!

Dude we are from Cleveland. We could care less if some high schoolers or Rec teams are spitting on each other after games or kicking the losing team. All we care about is a championship. If you don't bring news of that you best just return to where you came from.

If I had to throw you in front of a moving bus to get a champonship the 61 year old drought would be over. You're attempting to go places you don't understand.

If Lebron tackled Dwight and hit him with 20 elbows to the head for good luck and put him out of the finals, I would not care. Give us a ship. That's all we care about. We'll save the gracious losing for you and yours.

A thread like this is serves little purpose on the CAVs board other than a Forum for Trolling.

Lebron not shaking hands with the Magic wasn't a crime and not a social issue like the atrocities in Dafur in Africa--get over it and Troll somewhere else. Dwight Howard got more than his share of Super Star allowed fouls, because of the Magics' whining about the officiating and Magic clearly won the whining war. Phil Jackson is a master a whining to influence officiating. Dwight Howard shoots a 3 ball (he's not a 3 point shooter) near the final buzzer which makes him classy with the Magic comfortably ahead (heck, I wouldn't shake his hand either after that classless act). So don't come over here with false indignation to cover Trolling to release your long held frustrations over your own teams short falls.

at the risk of being called a troll...I see it differently...and if clev fans arent able to engage others on a message board without thinking troll ect..it's sad.

I know 99percent of cavs fans could care less about hand shakes and media interviews ..I understand that and agree..hat the hand shake part is overblown...way way...it's the non media interview and leaving the other guys to answer all the question ..it just made it seem that he was blaming the team..it was selfish and then to show up with a yankees hat and doing a interview ..is silly to me.

THing is ..they ( media) are mad that LBJ failed because they had all the commercials, promo , advertising ect ect ..set for the Kobe LBJ match up..and with no LBJ finals will be great just on one end..in their opinion...they are ready to hand the keys to bron..

The media is doing to Bron what it did to Kobe..hopefully Bron stands up instead of caves...they were selling Kobe no one respect ur rings ..it just cuz shaq ect...kobe caved to prove them wrong ect

They want bron in NY they don't want him in clev so they keep trying to do thing to push him there..thus the he cant win in clev his team mates failed him ..he wont sign and extention ...ect

he can win in clev ..this is just his process...to be a champ takes more than people give credit ...Im a lakers fan ..

we had Gary payton Kobe Shaq and Karl malone and lost to detroit...so him having the best team ever doesn't mean championships either ...team sports are funny like that...he just has to let it run its course

This is one of the dumbest posts I've ever read..... what the hell does ESPN and sports columns have to do with talking about politics, gay rights, terrorism?

The people writing sports columns are not the same people writing columns about national political issues. Thus making your "point" completely irrelevant.

What I dont understand is that the Cavs beat the Pistons and the Hawks. They all went over and gave him a hug, shook his hand, and congratulated James. And to a degree I personally think he expected them to. Now when the Cavs lose he cant do the same? Its kind of like a double standard. You come shake my hand when we win, but I dont shake yours if you win. Im not trying to start an argument, but thats what it tends to look like. So in all fairness whatever happens with the media is well deserved... Anyways it was a fun series to watch lots of ups and downs. And I look forward to seeing you guys all next year as well. Good luck guys!

For all of you saying they're making a big deal out of nothing.. I bet the same people would of made a bigger deal, lets say, if Dwight Howard didn't shake hands. Or if you made it to the Finals, Kobe didn't shake hands.

I'm not doubting that the same talking heads would be complaining. I just don't think it's that important to most sports fans.

i think it was dumb in all - and so was the supposed explanation (i dont know the exact explanation, i havent watched espn in about a couple weeks now)...but i really wouldnt care what dwight howard or kobe did if we were to beat them in a conference finals or finals

i just dont think people on the outside (i.e. nonclevelanders) understand where we're coming with this whole championship drought thing. if we were to ever win a championship in any of these three sports (and this championship isnt coming anytime soon btw), i dont care if the opposition started punching fans after they lost, as long as we have that championship, im good - couldnt care less about the opposition at that point

You see, a King sits on his throne, and lets a peasants come bow before him, offer gifts, and has them kiss his scepter or crown. The king doesn't go do the same to the peasants.

You see, scoring the most points, makes you a better person than everyone else. It elevates you higher, and makes you one of the powerful and elite, and from up there, you can look down on people, lord over them, and as a King you don't have to show any respect. You demand that the people come to you, not the other way around.

It's like having a league full of Butlers. And when someone has the nerve, the sheer audacity, to NOT kneel down and kiss the crown... worse, try to snatch the crown................... well they are the most evil people of all, and deserve no respect whatsover.

From what I've heard Mo actually beat LeBron into the lockerroom. I guess he must have skipped out on the handshakes as well.
