I've been reading here for well over two years so at least I was able to pick up on the sarcasm.
I don't mean to say anybody could play if they have enough heart. I think you get the point though. Team chemistry to me can make up for lack of athleticism. Of course it would be nice if the wolves could actually get someone who can get in the paint on a consistent basis and finish at the rim. I'm just tired of hearing how tall so and so is and they're just so agile. Then you put them on a team and they can't pass out of double teams, they get pushed off the block by bigger (heavier) guys. I don't care how athletic a guy is if they don't ever pass the ball, can't set a screen, shoots inconstantly. Part of that is a willingness to learn the game. To me it's all about being brought up right (coaching), and learning when and when not to do certain things. Size, speed, and agility is a given with most NBA players.
I'm 5'5" so I know just how much size does and does not matter.

An athletic 7-footer at 18? ... no brainer. Mullens is just a kid for pete sakes and we got people stereotyping him as a non-functional player for life. It would be different if we needed him to come in and fill a void from the first tip of the season, but we can toss him bananas for a year before we need to get serious production from him.

The #18 is not a lottery pick ... it's an opportunity for a team to gamble on a prospect or fill a need without much $$ on the line if it's a loss. Big men are always considered quality value, let alone "athletic" big men. I promise every team in the NBA is willing to roll the dice on Mullens in the middle of the 1st round.

I know a little about the game as well. Size and athleticism are not coachable, and again, I guarentee you every NBA team is prepared to snap up Mullens at #18 or before as we speak. They'll have no issue developing him for 3 years just to gain a role player. Lets not take the IQ, chemistry, and work ethic thing too far...

There are alot more players in the NBA who are dumb as rocks, but tall and athletic than there are players who are smart but short and slow. Size and athleticism matter, so does skill and BBIQ. You've got to try and balance. Mullins isn't just big and athletic, he was also a relatively productive freshman in a major conference. He's done more than enough to prove he'd have value at #18.

I will bet my modness that Mullens is not the pick at 18th. I have been hearing things about him that are less than friendly for the 18th. But it is off the record.

Jeff Teague was injured 10 minutes into the workout this morning. He sprained his knee or something, but will be fine within two weeks.

Interesting Rev.

Mullens has slid a little in my mind, but that is mainly due to Daye rising. How has he looked? Measurements seemed favorable to say the least. I just don't know enough about his game. Sounds like his jumper has really been looking solid though.

Also, have heard Lawson sliding a bit. Any reasons or am I mis-hearing things?

Two reasons I read for Lawson sliding (you heard correctly) is "injury prone" and "product of the system" those were anonymous quotes given to draft express. I think his small stature and low release point on his jumper are some concerns teams would have as well.

It's hard for me to shake the image of him getting torn to shreds by Jeff Teague on both ends of the court.

Pretty sure it was the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th... So like yesterday, today, and tomorrow, right?

EDIT: Wait, are you referring to the multi-team workout that's taking place here?

I think it was June 1-3. There are recaps up on the Wolves site from Monday and Tuesday morning and afternoon, then some stuff from this morning as well.

McNeal and Taj Gibson are the two that got worked out today that I'm most intrigued by.

McNeal will end up playing quality minutes for somebody, he's a PG sized combo guard, but he plays defense and can knock down open shots.

Gibson's potential to move to SF intrigues me. He's got awesome length and had some nice moments defending perimeter players for USC.

Young, Budinger, Ellington, Pendergraph, Tyler Smith, and Derrick Brown today. Solid crew. Young at 28 has been my preferred choice for quite a while now.

Does anyone know when they're going to start bringing in top 10 guys?

Truthfully, if we didn't take DeAndre Jordan in the 2nd last year then there is probably no way we take Mullens at 18.

I think Kahn said towards the end of next week...that's guys they would be looking at for both the 6th and 18th pick.
