Real GM 7.0 Mock

Post#1 » by Gunny » Wed Jun 3, 2009 4:27 pm

Did anyone else see the new mock? I like what the Wolves have for this mock.

6 - Harden
18 - Mullens
28 - Collison

What do you guys think?

I would like it, too.

Think it is quite unrealistic that Harden will fall to #6 though.

He really can't get any worse than #5 and that is IF the Sonics decide to pick Thabeet.
I guess they will pick him 3rd. If the Sonics don't pick him then the wizards will do it or any other team they sold the pick too. (I hope we can make a deal with them :P)

That sounds like a really nice draft to me. If we acquire Hinrich for a fair price along with that I'd be ecstatic about next year.

PG: Hinrich
SG: Harden
SF: Miller
PF: Love
C: Jefferson

Foye as the 6th man ala Ben Gordon

I like it, but I think I'd prefer a SF at #28 like Casspi or Summers.

No on Hinrich, yuck. But how do you plan on getting him without trading a pick or Miller? I doubt they give him up for just a salary dump after the way he played in the play-offs.

I don't think Casspi will be available at #28

Casspi looked really good in workouts, apparently. So yeah, that's quite possible. Although originally it sounded like a year before he'd come over, but if he keeps looking good, maybe he changes his mind. I've heard his buy-out isn't much to worry about. Like it has an NBA option, or something? Or it's really cheap?

I don't know about the buyout situation but Casspi is a player we really have to look after with our later picks.

That's exactly why I said "fair trade" because we have 13 or so pages on a Hinrich trade and we haven't gotten very far. It wouldn't be the end of the world if we had to give up Miller anyways, Gomes and Brewer should be able to hold down the SF position.

Agreed on th SF position, I was just going off the roster you posted. Makes sense now.

It's cool j2j. One thing I really like about the roster I posted minus Miller is that we would have a MUCH improved defensive team. Hinrich and Harden AND Brewer is decent perimeter defense. That will take a lot of pressure off of Love and Al to hold down the paint when anyone and their brother can get in there at will.

Definitely agreed on the need to improve the perimeter defense. I think my love/hate for Hinrich is well documented, though. So we both have the same goals, just different ways about getting there.

As much as I like Harden, Brandon Jennings and Gerald Henderson would be much, much better value.

Whats that based on Bro? I really like Harden and see Jennings as a very huge gamble. I would really like to have more info on whats going on.

My reasoning is twofold. First, I think that Henderson is closer to Harden in terms of talent than Telfair (or Mullens) is to Jennings. Second, I'm a lot higher on Jennings than most people. From what I've seen (which, admittedly, is just youtube videos) he looks exactly like Kevin Johnson.

If that's really the case, I just dont know whats going on and seems like there has been more info available in drafts past.

The lack of info is really the problem with Jennings. When the freshman class of this draft played each other in high school, Jennings was typically considered, if not the best player on the court, one of them. Then he went to Europe and played limited minutes out of position in a foreign country where nobody here in the states really got a chance to see him play, while we got a chance to get more comfortable and familiar with other prospects that got airplay stateside. All most of us got on Jennings were a couple write-ups from DX.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

Really disagree. You might argue that Jennings is a better fit because we need a PG, but he's not a better pick than Harden.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.
