If Detroit throws in the #15 draft pick, yes for Clippers.

I say no. I don't want to give up Thornton for this package.

I'd rather do Prince and the 15th pick for Kaman and Thornton. Adding Amir might be nice, but he like Kaman would add to the log jam in the front court.

Obviously I say yes. This is the deal that I have wanted for a while, but it seems as if some DET fans, especially Vege don't like it.

I disagree with this. Honestly, Thornton's ceiling is not going to skyrocket anytime soon, and clearly Tayshaun is the better and more importantly smarter player on a team. Teams with championships with Tayshaun on their team, not with Corey Maggette 2.0 on your team. Thornton can't really shoot, is a mediocre defender, not the best passwer and about the only thing he'll do okay is get a piece of the paint and not much else.

Prince > Thornton now, and in 100 years...

Kaman will not play hard for our team no matter what. He even would rather sit out with a phantom "injury" than play any more as stated in the Emergency Clippers Ticket Holders Meeting.

I'd do this trade with or without the 15th pick, easily.

Boom, Gordon, Prince, Griffin, Camby surely does sound appealing.

Doubt Detroit would do this.

I think we would....Vege be darned. But would you guys make the deal?? Overall, seems like it would be a slight yes?

Davis
Gordon
Prince
Griffin/Zach
Camby/Jordan

That would be a vastly improved Clippers team from last season....

Pistons improve as well:

Stuckey
Rip
Thornton
*Maxiell
Kaman

---We likely will aquire another starting PF via trade or free agency.

I'd like to see the Clips go after Milwaukee's Luc Mbah A Moute instead of give that much up for Prince. Kaman for Prince straight up or no deal.

I didn't realize Prince was from LA. Chris Kaman is from Michigan. This trade would send both players to play in their home towns. Let's make it happen.

I'd like it even more with the 15, but I would still strongly consider it without the pick. I don't want us to give up Kaman for just anything, but swapping him for Tayshaun is a move that I've been wanting to happen for awhile. It fills a need for both teams, both players return home, similar salaries, etc.

And the reasons I added Amir and Thornton:

Amir comes home

Amir gives you guys depth at PF/C in case of injury or in case you somehow are able to offload Zach onto someone....

You won't need Thornton if you have Prince...

We'll need a SF if we trade Prince...

I still don't understand why we trade Thornton in this deal. I'd do Kaman for Prince straight up. Detroit can then sign a SF with their cap space. The only way I put Thornton in this deal is if it's the 15 pick instead of Amir. We have to many bigs as is and have no need to acquire another one in a trade. Trading Thornton would still leave us with only one SF on the roster that I trust.

I too would rather get the #15 than Amir for Thorton, but I understand Detroit would want something more than just Kaman for Prince straight up when they are going after Boozer with all their cap space at the PF spot and would prefer to unload Amir for more cap room now and he plays the same position.

*If it's hometown boys being traded, Kaman for Prince, I'd be fine, if Detroit wants Thorton added in, I'd prefer we get their #15. We have no use for Amir even if his contract is expiring, unless Detroit wants Zack Randolph in return.

So it appears to be so/so on the deal I posted....

Prince/#15 for Kaman/Thornton appears to be good to go....

So does a straight-up Prince/Kaman swap....

Correct?

You are on the money, both work for me. You guys could do the Thornotn deal with Kaman, and still add Boozer for about 12 million and make a reasonable offer to another free agent like Ariza. If you guys had a off season that added Boozer, Kaman, Thornton, and Ariza I would call that a pretty damn successful off season.

yep!
now only time will tell if the Owners and GM's can figure it out (Sadly Dunleavy is in charge for the Clippers and he's not smart). I think it actually works better than other deals I've heard on the Clips front because I'd much prefer to trade with an East team than out West.

And all they would be losing was Prince and the #15 unproven draft pick. wow, now that I think of it, the boys are back in town. Not sure Ariza signs with them, and even without Thorton for the #15 it's be an off-season of adding Kaman and Boozer and only losing Prince, still pretty great.
